About AIDS Concern Health Service Center

AIDS Concern Health Service Center is an association or charity in Mong Kok, Yau Tsim Mong, at 九龍旺角彌敦道678號華僑商業中心18樓B室. Mong Kok is part of the Yau Tsim Mong District in Kowloon. Around Kwun Tong and Kowloon Bay many industrial buildings now house offices, restaurants, gyms and studios, while Kai Tak is a newer district. Kowloon's streets are busiest in the evening and at weekends, shops keep long hours with many open until about 22:00, and the Kwun Tong, Tsuen Wan and Tuen Ma lines plus buses and minibuses reach almost everywhere. Mong Kok is one of Hong Kong's busiest shopping districts: Tung Choi Street (the Ladies' Market) and Fa Yuen Street (Sneakers Street) are lined with small shops, and the buildings along Nathan Road hold countless upstairs shops.

They are doing meaningful work for gay community. The people there were super friendly! They introduced me the testing process as we were doing it and were very knowledgeable. Kind and accommodating place.

Very friendly, multilingual, and supportive staff offering free STI tests and health resources. Quick and easy procedures from beginning to end. Currently they only offer tests for three STIs (HIV, Syphilis and Hep C) so if you need something more comprehensive best to check another clinic.

Free test. Okay at the start but once you get diagnosed, the trouble begins. They make you wait. From the time I was diagnosed to my next blood test, it took 1 day. But from there, it took 18 days to receive what is basically what you already know. Nothing new but the same result. I would not recommend this. Case Officer assigned to me did not seem to care. She does not reply on time and no empathy when she does. When I complained, that was when she responded. No apologies. Nothing. I will not recommend. Go somewhere else where your life is treated with importance.

a very realistic and funding oriented hiv testing centre. They would do a small interview before deciding whether YOU ARE WORTH TESTING and simply won’t offer test if you are not at high risk as the staff personally perceived. This is definitely not a international standard and should be condemned. I was upset and found out later that this was due to the fact that hk government would allocate funding a to these testing NGOs according to THE NUMBER OF POSITiVE CASES reported and hence they just try to make the statistics happen while saving cost! But please, there’s no country that hiv tests are only offered to high risk people (ie bareback or condom broke as the staff defines) and the government shouldn’t use hiv positive as a target for funding. The staff further said it is useless to know your hiv status earlier and told me to wait. This in also in contrast to the global knowledge that starting hiv meds early is highly desirable. As The Body and other websites said 99% of hiv tests are negatives but hiv test should be encouraged because it shows peopel care about it and those know earlier wouldn’t infect other people and hence reduce overall hiv infection.
