About 昂平營地 (馬鞍山)

昂平營地 (馬鞍山) is a holiday camp or campsite in Ma On Shan, Sha Tin, at 新界馬鞍山 昂平營地. Locals and visitors alike tend to check the same things before going, so this page brings together the practical details: where it is, how to get in touch, when it is open and how customers rate it.

Attractions, ferries and rental services are busiest at weekends, on public holidays and in the school holidays, so book popular slots early. Hong Kong drives on the left, and visitors can generally drive on a valid overseas licence for up to 12 months; boat trips and ferries may be suspended in bad weather, so keep an eye on Hong Kong Observatory warnings. Campsites and holiday camps are most popular in school holidays and long weekends, and some are booked through a dedicated system.

No opening hours have been published here yet; the Google Maps link on this page shows the latest details. Bear in mind that many small shops close over Lunar New Year and may not open while a typhoon or black rainstorm warning is in force. Phone: 2134 7658. Hong Kong numbers have eight digits; from abroad, dial +852 first. Its website is afcd.gov.hk, which may show prices, details of what it offers or online booking.

Customers give it an average of 4.4 out of 5 on Google (321 reviews), a high score by any measure.

Ma On Shan is part of the Sha Tin District in the New Territories. Some rural spots in the New Territories have infrequent buses and minibuses and earlier last services, so check timetables for buses, minibuses, the MTR or the Light Rail first; village addresses sometimes give only the village name and house number, so map navigation helps. Sai Kung's seafood and piers, Yuen Long's traditional pastries and street snacks and the border towns near Shenzhen each have their own character. Hong Kong has more than a dozen public holidays a year; around Lunar New Year, Easter, Mid-Autumn and Christmas many businesses change their hours, and some small shops close for three to seven days over Lunar New Year.

Took Tuen Ma line MTR to Ma On Shan station, I forgot to exit B but went directly into MOStown. I was a bit lost looking for minibus NR84 so after asking ard, I went to ground floor of MOStown taxi stand and took a cab , note only green taxi for the new territory area, and not red cab. I requested the taxi to bring me to the trail head, not the Ma On Shan bbq site or village. It costs hkd $65. If you alight at the village it will probably take another hr of hike to reach the trail head. From trail head it took 45 mins for me to reach the campsite. There a lots of steps up but trail is well marked. You see dogs on leash hiking up too! And young children too. The view was absolutely amazing from the camp! Many people not just camping, I even saw a bible study group! I decided to return by u turning cos I was not sure where is minibus stop n besides the bus schedule apparently infrequent. I saw a green taxi when I returned to trail head and took it back to MOStown and the Ma on Shan station directly connected to it at lvl 2.

One of my favourite camping site! Very easy access, walking on trek for around 0.5-1 hour to get to the peak. You could see people paragliding from time to time. You could also see cows and sunrise The only disadvantage is having too many people on some of the days

Nice place for picnic. It is supposed to be a campsite but I am not familiar with camping rules in HK. Hiking up is quite easy as it is close to Ma On Shan village, where you can get by taxi or minibus. Nice idea is to hike up, have a picnic, continue hike to Sai Kung on the other side and then take bus wherever you came from. Beautiful panoramas for the spot.

Super!!! Just so good. I never feel free like this. It is a campsite on a big grassland with a splendid sky view and a magnificent sea view. The access to it is easy and it is a popular place for paragliding.
