Wan Chai is part of the Wan Chai District on Hong Kong Island. The island is steep, with many streets climbing the hillside; the Central–Mid-Levels escalator links Central with the Mid-Levels and the Peak Tram runs up to The Peak. Offices, malls and old neighbourhood shops sit side by side, restaurants are packed at the office lunch hour (roughly 13:00–14:00), and with parking scarce the MTR, tram or bus is usually easier than driving. Wan Chai mixes the office towers around the Convention and Exhibition Centre with old markets and tenement buildings, and nearby restaurants get busy during big trade fairs.

Went with family, and with so many of us at the table, we got to try a good range of dishes. Service was excellent from start to finish — from the booking process to the staff looking after us that night, everything was smooth, friendly and genuinely easy. The clear favorites were the mala chicken bites, wagyu beef bone marrow pie, mussels with chorizo & white wine, and the rigatoni alla Norma — those were the dishes we kept going back to, even after saying we were full. The spring chicken was good too, and made a nice addition to the meal. The steak & peppers and the portobello fries were decent enough, but didn't leave much of an impression. The milk break with umami butter was probably the biggest letdown for me — the bread was drier than expected, which honestly caught me off guard, and while the butter sounded great on paper, I couldn't really taste the Dau Si Leng Yu in it. Overall, a really enjoyable meal with a few standout dishes, and service that made the whole night feel espeically well taken care of.

would recommend a visit, but stick to the classics. the plain croissant was good-buttery, flakey, exactly what youd hope for. we also enjpyed the avo toast and crab royale, both of which were well executed. The cinnamon pecan pastry, however, was far too sweet for our taste. coffee was descent, americano was too bright and acidic for me, cappuccino leaned morenlike a latte coz it was too milky. their famoud egg tart were good, althought smaller than i expected. overall, everything was enjoyable, buy i did find it a little on the pricey side for what u get.

*** REVIEW UPDATED *** We were invited back by the Bakehouse team to try another breakfast selection. We couldn't order the French toast as the recipe was under review. So we ended up ordering something different. The apple crumble danish was something we had our eye on. It was sold out the first time we came, so we made sure to order that first. The danish was like a cross between apple pie and strudel. It was delicious. We also ordered the ginger latte to start. The taste was light with a hint of ginger. My advice is to stir the liquid before wvery sip because all the ginger is sitting at the bottom. This was my mistake when I first had it and ended up with mouthfuls of ginger by the time I reached the bottom. For our main breakfast the Bakehouse Breakfast and Crab Royale Croissant Benedict. The Bakehouse Breakfast came first. The bacon was not overly crispy and not too salty; which was good. We ordered our eggs over easy; done to perfection. The sausage was also not too salty. But the surprise star of the meal was the tomato apple chutney. It was a bit tangy with a hint of spicy. It was so good we ended up wanting seconds. The Croissant Benedict was also nice. The eggs were

Visited their Wan Chai location during a recent trip to Hong Kong given many popular recommendations on social media and websites. Bakehouse has a number of locations across the city, and is best known for their sourdough egg tarts and their takes on popular pastries. For this location, they also serve brunch which was a very popular option as there were lineups already in the early morning. Their brunch options consist of a mix of pastries baked fresh in house and hot dishes. Their Mala Fried Chicken and Sourdough Waffle was a freshly made sourdough waffle topped with fried chicken in a spicy numbing chili pepper sauce, accompanied by syrup which added a level of sweetness to the dish. Due to the syrup, it helped balance out the spiciness of the dish and added to the overall flavour. The waffle was apart of their breakfast combination meal, which also included a choice of drink as well. Additionally, their tarts were also a highlight as they were a unique take on the traditional egg tart with using flaky sourdough as the flaky pastry. The egg tart is a bit similar to a Portuguese Egg Tart but the sourdough pastry helps make it stand out. Service was also friendly and help

Bakehouse now has a dinner menu! We were impressed by how good everything was. Highly recommend getting the roasted spring chicken, very tender and the sauce was impeccable! That crisp pastry atop the beef bone marrow pie was chef-kisses. We also loved the dessert, best sticky toffee pudding (Madeleine) ever! 😋Recommend? ✅ 👩🏻🍳Food rating: 4/5 👩🏻⚖️Overall experience rating: 4/5
