Bar Leone is absolutely worth the hype. Recently elected the best bar in the world for 2025, it naturally raises the question: *how does a bar become the best bar in the world?* It’s hard to define exactly, but Bar Leone makes a very convincing case. From the moment you arrive, the service stands out: the staff are genuinely friendly, welcoming and impressively quick, even with the buzz and demand around the place. The drinks are excellent, thoughtfully made, and easy to enjoy, but what really adds to the experience is everything around them: the amazing olives, the focaccias, and the relaxed yet polished atmosphere. Yes, you may have to wait for a table, but in this case, it feels completely worth it. Bar Leone delivers on the excitement without feeling pretentious. Great drinks, great snacks and a team that makes the whole experience feel effortless. I really enjoyed it and would happily go back.

On Tuesday 4th August me, my partner and our friend went to Bar leone, we put down our name and waited one hr and half, normal, expected no problem. At some point we are being told to go in, our table is not available yet but apparently only three tables in front of us to wait, we are allowed to order cocktails and food. We have smoked olives (good, smoky not much olive flavour but it’s fine), and the mortadella focaccia (full of mortadella, too much, the focaccia is very dry and has almost no dough inside, but okay), we have the summer in Bologna, fig leaf Collins, leone Bellini, Fig leaf is truly very good, the others are fine. Mr Luca, kind and attentive waiter. After one hr I ask why are we not being sited but only standing at a table, which was also in a very loud corner. We are told to wait a bit longer and later set at the counter bar, not a table. My friend point out her light disappointment in being set at the bar instead of the table (there were two free) in a private conversation, the bartender Chris make fun of her with a disrespectful voice saying “I don’t wanna be at the bar ah” and later add “I want a table why do I have to be here ah gne gne”. I was absolutely shock

I wanted to try this place because it’s considered the best cocktail bar in the world. I don’t know about the criteria, but being Italian it seemed a very nice and typical Italian place. Not sure if the best in the world. Cocktails were very good of course. I found strange that there’s a line outside, I arrived early and they let me enter staying standing for drinks and for the entire time I was there (less than one hour) two tables were completely empty. I’ll come back for sure to try something different

Had an amazing experience at Bar Leone. The cocktails were outstanding, perfectly balanced, creative, and genuinely memorable. But what really made the night special was the hospitality. Every server was warm, attentive, and made the atmosphere feel welcoming from the moment I walked in. You can really understand why this place is so highly respected. And honestly, the focaccia is absolutely to die for. Simple, delicious, and something I’m still thinking about after leaving. The only small recommendation I would give is to have more proper seating for guests enjoying stronger cocktails. Even with the standing tables and stools, some drinks are meant to be sat down with and enjoyed slowly, not while standing up. A great cocktail experience should feel relaxed and comfortable. Overall, truly a five-star experience and definitely one of the best cocktail bars I’ve visited.

Bar Leone is obviously one of the best rated bar experiences in the world. We had to see if it did hold up to reviews. We arrived 40 minute before service and an evident queue had already formed. Service is wonderful and organised. Staff were well versed in the ingredients, alcohol origins and concepts. Food is 10/10. I would definitely recommend not coming and just aiming to drink a cocktail. Definitely try the food, especially the smoked olives which are insanely good. We managed 3 rounds of drinks and we were quite taken aback. Some drinks that would have been simple staples were actually multilayered and complex. Other drinks were different, but worked extremely well. Being Australian, we did comment on supplementing one commercial vodka for a small Australian distillery, Sohi for the martini however we were pleased to see a worldly range of spirits utilised for Italian origin/inspired cocktails. We will happily come back the next time we are in Hong Kong. It’s not a venue that can be experienced once and ticked off.
