A terrible experience with Blue Cross. I booked a flight Hong Kong-London and back transiting Singapore. I put my trust in Blue Cross (Asia Pacific) in Hong Kong when I bought travel insurance from them prior to my journey. On my return flight London-Singapore-Hong Kong, I had breathing difficulties and was taken to hospital on landing in Singapore with serious heart trouble. The Singapore hospital gave me wonderful care and saved my life. But this ran up huge bills, I submitted a claim to Blue Cross for HK$432,523(US$54,000), most of it to pay the Singapore hospital bill. Blue Cross were disrespectful to me right from the start. Considering the seriousness and amount involved, for the next 3 months and despite a number of reminders they did not act. Only when I wrote a formal complaint to their CEO after 3 months of waiting, they finally replied. Blue Cross refused to pay using pre-existing conditions as justification. They exploited one doctors comment that suited them but avoided addressing other doctors diagnosis, the main points in my claim where I explained very good reasons why I did not know that my several months of breathing difficulties was a heart condition. Lost my ID on a trip. Blue Cross paid for the extra accommodation and the replacement cost, no hassle. Just remember to get a police report right away. Highly recommend their travel insurance .

When I got into their office to pay my annual insurance premium the cashier said I cannot use "Union Pay" credit card as payment platform which they did not mention or printed clearly on their payment methods shown at the back page of their policy invoice. I came all my way from Tseung Kwan O to Wanchai Hopewell Centre to do my payment. It is unusual practice in HK nowadays to accept Union Pay Credit Card. If it is the case, your company should make it clear to all of our policy holders before they come forward for payment. Secondly, I want to use their wash room during my visit, the receptionist said it is not open to public. You need to know that we are your valuable customers in the first place, secondly those "public" people would not go to your office on 54th floor for toilet use. It is NOT a welcome signal to ALL your customers. Your management should review the above and make some clarification to your staff if some adjusted measurements should be taken immediately.
