Wan Chai is part of the Wan Chai District on Hong Kong Island. The north shore of Hong Kong Island is one of the densest business areas in the city: the MTR Island Line runs from Kennedy Town to Chai Wan, the trams ("ding dings") between Kennedy Town and Shau Kei Wan, and many businesses trade from upper floors of office blocks and older tenement buildings. The south side is known for beaches, trails and fishing harbours such as Repulse Bay, Stanley and the Aberdeen typhoon shelter, which get busy at weekends and on public holidays. Wan Chai mixes the office towers around the Convention and Exhibition Centre with old markets and tenement buildings, and nearby restaurants get busy during big trade fairs.

i ate this in the pouring rain but it was so so worth it and i’d do it again in a heartbeat. interestingly, despite not having any seating and literally just being a street stall, they give you the option of “dining in” or “take out” — if you dine it, they put your food on a red plate and you basically eat it at the storefront. the food tastes fresh and comes out hot too. every bite on the plate was so addictive delicious. the cheng fun was silky smooth, QQ, glutinous, with a bit of a chew. the bite-sized siu mai had a prominent yet mild shrimpy flavour with a slight meatiness. the BEST part was definitely the combination of sauces drizzled all over so generously that everything was basically swimming in a soupy concoction of flavours. i wanted to DRINK it , it was so good. the salty soy paste, the sweet and spicy chili sauce, and the hints of sesame and peanut nuttiness came together to form one the most delicious, umami-filled experience ever.

Lots of locals getting breakfast in the morning. The Cheung fun wasn’t silky smooth. Wasn’t particularly tasty and felt mass produced. But food was piping hot. The siu mai was good. HK cheap eats, I think I paid HKD 16. Asked to eat on site but they must have forgot and gave me a take away box. Just as well, it was raining when I went.

cheap and tasty 10$ for a plate of 4 rice noodles cut up with sauces added, tasted delicious. you eat on a plate next to the stall and return the plate at the end. super convenient and amazing value for money.

This is a famous streetfood stand for a reason. From opening to closing time, people (locals and tourists alike) are lining up. Do not be intimidated by the queue, the service is actually very fast. The foods were all flavorful. The sauce was savory with a hint of spice. The flavors were interestingly good and surprisingly light.

Great value stall with very soft and silky rice cake. We got the set with the spicy sauce, but it wasnt really spicy. Maybe they turned down the spice level knowing that were not locals? The food was freshly made, people just eat on the side of the street and return the plates afterwards.
