Cheung Kee Tyre

Cheung Kee Tyre, a tyre and auto parts shop in Causeway Bay, Wan Chai, is at 香港島銅鑼灣清風街6號凱豐商業大廈. Before heading over it is worth checking the hours, phone number and Google rating below, so the trip is not wasted.

In Hong Kong, private cars aged six years or more must pass an annual roadworthiness examination at a Transport Department designated car testing centre before their licence is renewed, and every vehicle needs third-party insurance. Ask for a quote before repairs, check whether parts are original or aftermarket and how long the warranty is, and keep the invoice. When changing tyres, check the manufacture date and size, and have the alignment and pressure checked too.

Google lists the opening hours as Mon–Sat 09:00–18:30, Sun closed. That makes 6 working days a week. Arrangements may differ on public holidays, over Lunar New Year and when a typhoon signal No. 8 or above or a black rainstorm warning is in force, so call before making a special trip. Phone: 2578 9483. Hong Kong numbers have eight digits; from abroad, dial +852 first. More information is on its website, ckt.hk.

It has a Google rating of 3.7 out of 5 from 6 reviews. Opinions are mixed but broadly steady, and the latest reviews are the best guide to what to expect.

Causeway Bay is part of the Wan Chai District on Hong Kong Island. The north shore of Hong Kong Island is one of the densest business areas in the city: the MTR Island Line runs from Kennedy Town to Chai Wan, the trams ("ding dings") between Kennedy Town and Shau Kei Wan, and many businesses trade from upper floors of office blocks and older tenement buildings. The south side is known for beaches, trails and fishing harbours such as Repulse Bay, Stanley and the Aberdeen typhoon shelter, which get busy at weekends and on public holidays. Causeway Bay is packed with malls and department stores and is very crowded at weekends; nearby Victoria Park hosts the Lunar New Year fair.
