Mid-Levels is part of the Central and Western District on Hong Kong Island. The north shore of Hong Kong Island is one of the densest business areas in the city: the MTR Island Line runs from Kennedy Town to Chai Wan, the trams ("ding dings") between Kennedy Town and Shau Kei Wan, and many businesses trade from upper floors of office blocks and older tenement buildings. The south side is known for beaches, trails and fishing harbours such as Repulse Bay, Stanley and the Aberdeen typhoon shelter, which get busy at weekends and on public holidays. Hong Kong addresses give the street and number, the building name, then the floor and unit; "G/F" means the ground floor, and as big buildings can have several entrances, look for the directory board in the lobby.

Chuan Yue Lou - One of My Favourite Sichuanese Restaurants in Hong Kong since 2013 🌶️🥢 Chuan Yue Lou is one of my personal favourite restaurants to visit in HK! I always look forward to coming back for the food, and there are a few dishes that I simply can’t resist. The plum juice, dim sum, stir-fried beans, prawn rice rolls, dried shrimp and Chinese chive pancake are all so delicious. Everything is full of flavour, and it’s the kind of meal where you always end up ordering more than you planned! I also love the journey to Chuan Yue Lou. Whenever we go, I like to walk through 1 Garden Road, passing by a number of beautiful historic churches and impressive architecture along the way. It’s a lovely part of Hong Kong to explore on foot and makes the lunch feel like part of a little day out. Then, after a very satisfying lunch, we walk across the footbridge towards the Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens Greenhouse. It’s the perfect way to walk off all that delicious food in your tummy 😄🌿 Great food, a beautiful walk, and one of my favourite little routines whenever I’m in HK. Definitely a place I’ll keep coming back to!

Great quality and value for money, with stellar service. Feel free to bring our own bottle of wine too, as they do have a small selection but are pretty much corkage free otherwise.

Good food and fast service. We arrived just after they opened at 5 PM, so there was no waiting time and the staff were friendly. It’s a nice Chinese restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere.

A traditional restaurant tucked away inside the YWCA on Mid Levels. This is one of the old style restaurants serving traditional dim sums still made in-house rather than factory-supplied. I particularly like their scrumptious single soup dumpling with ‘shark’s fins’. This is now quite a rare dim sum to find. Its size, filling & quality of soup base has left me a great impression. Shark’s fin, I believe though, is in name only these days.

A fantastic spot for authentic Sichuan cuisine, also offering Cantonese options for those who prefer milder flavors. My top picks include the Shuizhu Beef—so tender and bursting with flavor, the Suan Cai Fish with the perfect tang, the Tea-Smoked Duck that’s incredibly tasty, and the Dan Dan Noodles with just the right kick of spice and sesame sauce. Each dish truly brings something unique to the table! For hotpot lovers, they serve excellent hotpot with flavorful broth and fresh ingredients. Just a heads up—the restaurant is on the 7th floor of Coda Plaza, which is a bit run-down and could use better management.
