Private hospitals charge more, so ask about package prices or a cost estimate before admission and check what your insurance covers. Bring your ID, previous medical records and a list of your current medicines; the information on this page is not a substitute for medical advice. For non-urgent problems, a general out-patient or private clinic can save a long wait in A&E.
Google lists it as open 24 hours, seven days a week, though arrangements may change in a typhoon or other special circumstances, so call if it matters. You can call 2589 8111; a phone call is the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or how to get there. Its website is tungwah.org.hk, which may show prices, details of what it offers or online booking.
At 3.8 out of 5 on Google (130 reviews), it sits mid-table; the written reviews say more about service, prices and waiting times than the number does.
The Peak is part of the Central and Western District on Hong Kong Island. The north shore of Hong Kong Island is one of the densest business areas in the city: the MTR Island Line runs from Kennedy Town to Chai Wan, the trams ("ding dings") between Kennedy Town and Shau Kei Wan, and many businesses trade from upper floors of office blocks and older tenement buildings. The south side is known for beaches, trails and fishing harbours such as Repulse Bay, Stanley and the Aberdeen typhoon shelter, which get busy at weekends and on public holidays. The Peak is reached by the Peak Tram or by bus; its lookouts draw big crowds on holidays.

From Dec 18, 2024 to 12 Jan 2025, I came here daily to visit a good friend Alfred whom we hadn’t met for over 25 years. The visiting sessions are from 12:00-13:00 and 17:00-20:00. The entry times are rigid - no point to come early. While most of the nurses are nice, there are exceptions - getting their free face masks might be scolded.

Currently, it is extremely difficult to get an appointment for outpatient services. Some nurses are friendly. However, location is on a slope. Therefore, it would be a bit strenuous for the elderly or those with walking incapabilities.

Decent public hospital, centrally located. Most nurses have time for patient care, although individual standards vary a lot depending on how ward sister sets the tone. Food is marginally better than Queen Mary hospital.

A very old hospital managed by Tung Wah Group of Hospitals. The hospital is to a certain extend specialised to some form of surgical operations, say breast and thyroid. There is very limited number of visitors parking, however, it is free of charge as long as you could leave down the patient’s bed no. etc.
