This is an upstairs shop: the way in is usually through the building lobby rather than from the street, so check the building name, floor and unit before you go and allow a few minutes for the lift.

When choosing a stylist or therapist, look at photos of their work and at reviews, and explain clearly what you want on a first visit. Under the Trade Descriptions Ordinance, traders may not use misleading or aggressive practices to sell services; if you meet high-pressure selling, Customs and Excise or the Consumer Council can advise. The weeks before Lunar New Year are the busiest for salons, as many people traditionally get a haircut before the new year, so book early.

Opening hours: Mon closed, Tue–Sun 11:30–19:00. That makes 6 working days a week. It also opens on Sunday. Many small businesses close for a few days around Lunar New Year and may shut early or not open during typhoons and black rainstorms, so check the latest news before you set off. You can call 9021 2695; a phone call is the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or how to get there. It is a mobile number, and many local businesses also answer enquiries on WhatsApp. More information is on its website, threads.com.

Customers give it an average of 4.9 out of 5 on Google (42 reviews), a high score by any measure.

Kwun Tong is part of the Kwun Tong District in Kowloon. Kowloon is densely packed: Nathan Road runs north from Tsim Sha Tsui towards Prince Edward, lined along with its side streets by shops, restaurants and upstairs businesses, and most places are a few minutes' walk from an MTR station. Mong Kok's street markets, Sham Shui Po's electronics and fabric streets and Kowloon City's Thai restaurants are familiar landmarks for shopping and eating. Many Kwun Tong industrial buildings now house offices, restaurants, gyms and studios; note the building name and floor, as access can differ in the evening and at weekends.
