Hung Hom is part of the Kowloon City District in Kowloon. Kowloon is densely packed: Nathan Road runs north from Tsim Sha Tsui towards Prince Edward, lined along with its side streets by shops, restaurants and upstairs businesses, and most places are a few minutes' walk from an MTR station. Mong Kok's street markets, Sham Shui Po's electronics and fabric streets and Kowloon City's Thai restaurants are familiar landmarks for shopping and eating. Hong Kong summers are hot and humid, and typhoons and rainstorms come mostly in summer and autumn; when the Observatory issues signal No. 8 or above or a black rainstorm warning, many businesses close until it is lifted.

Taking the ferry from Hung Hom (South) Ferry Pier to Central Pier No. 8 offers a calm, scenic alternative to Hong Kong’s fast-paced underground MTR system. Operated by Fortune Ferry, this harbour route provides an unhurried 15-to-20-minute crossing across the iconic Victoria Harbour. At just HKD10.50 per adult journey, it stands out as one of the most affordable ways to commute or sightsee. Passengers can pay easily using an Octopus card at the turnstiles. The spacious passenger vessels feature indoor seating alongside open-air viewing sections, allowing riders to feel the gentle harbor breeze while avoiding crowded roads. The visual rewards along this route are exceptional. Departing from the peaceful Hung Hom waterfront, the ferry glides past the modern skyline of East Tsim Sha Tsui, providing panoramic views of the Avenue of Stars, Victoria Dockside, and the towering International Commerce Centre (ICC) on the Kowloon side. Crossing the central harbor, passengers enjoy sweeping perspectives of Hong Kong Island’s famous financial district, including the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre and the iconic IFC towers. With departures scheduled throughout the day, the journey b

Took the ferry from Hung Hom to North Point and had a smooth experience. The 10-minute journey offers nice views of Victoria Harbour, and the fare is quite affordable compared to other transport options. Staff were helpful despite basic English. The pier itself is fairly basic and could use some modern updates, but the efficient service and convenient schedule make it a practical choice for crossing the harbour and avoiding traffic.

A bare bones ferry pier for ferries operating between 7am to 7pm plus. Its rather old, lacking in modern touches. Basic amenities, and some drinks vending machine in place. Next to the ferry terminal is a bus interchange. There's a restaurant attached to this building.
