About 40% of Hong Kong's land is country park or special area, and hiking trails run through every district. Before a hike or a beach day check the Hong Kong Observatory forecast and warnings, bring enough water, sun protection and a charged phone, and stay on the trail; the country parks ask visitors to take their litter home.
Opening hours: daily, 10:00–18:00. It is open seven days a week. Many small businesses close for a few days around Lunar New Year and may shut early or not open during typhoons and black rainstorms, so check the latest news before you set off. No phone number is listed, so the Google Maps link on this page is the best starting point for directions and any contact details Google has. Its website is amo.gov.hk, which may show prices, details of what it offers or online booking.
At 3.8 out of 5 on Google (806 reviews), it sits mid-table; the written reviews say more about service, prices and waiting times than the number does.
Tai Hang is part of the Wan Chai District on Hong Kong Island. The island is steep, with many streets climbing the hillside; the Central–Mid-Levels escalator links Central with the Mid-Levels and the Peak Tram runs up to The Peak. Offices, malls and old neighbourhood shops sit side by side, restaurants are packed at the office lunch hour (roughly 13:00–14:00), and with parking scarce the MTR, tram or bus is usually easier than driving. Hong Kong addresses give the street and number, the building name, then the floor and unit; "G/F" means the ground floor, and as big buildings can have several entrances, look for the directory board in the lobby.

Overall great experience. Sadly to see majority of the place was demolished for residential development. Quite an informative tour guide. There is lift and toilets on site.

It was an oddly striking sight amidst the towering modern high-rises. Recently renovated, the place fell short of the standards one might expect from such a significant landmark. The glasswork and windows were the standout features of the building. Although the tour was conducted in Cantonese, one of the guides kindly took the time to explain key facts in English for me.

I brought some friends from overseas to visit this place, and it turned out to be a delightful experience. We were all pleasantly surprised—it wasn’t what we had expected at all. While the mansion has lost its legendary gardens, the interior remains remarkably well-preserved, offering a fascinating glimpse into the lives of its former owners. The unique architectural design adds to its charm, making it a memorable visit. Tickets are free!

A while ago I took part in the guided tour of the "Haw Par Mansion" organized by the Antiquities and Monuments Office. It was a captivating experience to explore such a historically significant location. The tour guide was attentive and knowledgeable, offering detailed explanations throughout the visit. It's definitely worth experiencing firsthand. By the way, remember to make an online reservation in advance to gain entry for the tour.

The tour is free (advance booking required) and super fun. Learnt a lot about the history of this mansion and the original owners, and the architecture itself is fascinating. There was ample time to explore the rooms on our own during the guided tours, and photos were also allowed. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly.
