深水埗為群公寓人稱「散仔館」已荒廢多年，這幢大廈1957年落成位於南昌街與海壇街交界，呈弧形設計。由於該址位處昔日海邊，毗鄰北河街深水埗碼頭，有渡輪往來中環等港島地區，交通頗便利，業主於是把大樓「劏」出眾多小型獨立房間，闢作短租及月租公寓，出租給打工族或旅港人士。當年的租客不少是單身打工仔，其中不乏走難南下的新移民，故有散仔（單身漢）館之稱。但有附近老街坊指，以今天的話說，舊日租住公寓的「散仔」已相當於現時的中產人士，真正草根工人只能租住唐樓的床位。為群公寓已結業多時，但在一樓至四樓的外墻仍可見到「為群公寓」、「冷熱水喉、忠誠招待」、「新型梗房、清靜雅潔」等紅色字跡。 值得一提的是，弧形的街角樓在五、六十年代的香港甚為普遍。當時政府容許一樓以上各層向外伸出、闢建陽台，佔用行人路的空中空間。但後來業主取得入夥紙後，往往會圍封露台，加設窗戶，以增加居住或出租面積。
