This is the simplest food I have ever had for all the travels I made to Hong Kong but it is very nice and a good bowl of porridge. I didn't order any ingredients, just the porridge plain and simple for HKD9.00.

The congee eatery has been around for over 50 years....not much has changed. The eatery is an institution on Pei Ho Street. You will find congee and other snacks at very reasonable prices. All the locals flock to this congee place especially for breakfast. They have the popular Zongzi aka glutinous rice wrapped in bamboo leaves. At the bargain price of $20.

Good traditional congee shop with creamy congee. Service is nice when you speak Cantonese. Interior is old but hey, you come here for the food. Be aware: Menu is Chinese only.

Another peasant's food joint in SSP. This one is a mini chain that's been around for decades and specialize in porridge of all kinds 粥, fried dough 油器類 they freshly made them on premise， cheung fun 腸粉， noodles etc. Very inexpensive. No English.
