Vegetarian or not you need to try this restaurant. It’s located inside the beautiful gardens and the location is really magical. But bear in mind that it’s a very popular place so I recommend you to come at the opening. You’ll have to wait maybe a little but you should get a table easily. We are pescatarian so it was nice to find a restaurant of this kind. We didn’t have to worry about the ingredients. They have a large menu with all sorts of things. We tried the dumplings, noodles and seitan which were all delicious. Portions were also generous. The staff was nice and friendly with us. We were really pleased with our experience and will come back again next time.

Chi Lin restaurant inside Nan Lian Garden really stands out. From the moment you enter the garden to the time you sit down, the environment is calm, beautiful, and the view is great. The food here is amazing and I truly feel it deserves a place in the Michelin Guide. They use rare ingredients that you do not normally see in other restaurants, like cauliflower fungus and rattlesnake orchid, which makes the dishes feel very special. Both the lunch and dinner set menus are very filling on their own, and the Pu Er tea is also very good. The ginger cake is a must-try. The staff are very hospitable, and you can enjoy a relaxing walk around the garden after your meal.

A very peaceful and special place, located right next to the monastery. The food was delicious — I especially loved the mushroom and tofu dish, full of flavor and very comforting. I also tried one of their desserts, which was simple and lovely. Even though there was a bit of a language barrier, the staff were still very caring and attentive, which I really appreciated. It felt like a calm, mindful experience — not just a meal, but a moment to slow down.

As a local, I always discoving the restaurant that I would like to recommended and share with friends. Chi Lin Vegetarian is definitely on my list. The environment is unbratable and cozy. I can slowdown myself to enjoy the food. The offering sets for different numbers of people, I ordered the sets for 4 and added something. It's enough for 5 people if you are not starving. The price is a bit pricey but worth to try it. If you want to stay away from meat and fill your stomach with veggies.

We ordered deep fried bean curd sheet rolls with mushroom seaweed, braised yellow porcini and tofu casserole, and Sichuan fried rice. The rice was the best, and the other two dishes were good but not great. But the prices here are outrageous for what you receive. These three dishes came to $506HKD. When we got inside the restaurant, the lady at the desk saw our reservation ticket, then made like we should go find the table ourselves. Worse than that, the servers we had were kind, but they all run around like chickens with no heads. This should be a place for serenity, and it is not. We will not return. The nunnery is worth a visit, but this restaurant is not worth your time or your money.
