Under the Education Ordinance, tutoring centres above a certain size must register with the Education Bureau as schools, and registered centres usually display their certificate. Before enrolling, ask about the tutors' qualifications, class sizes, timetable and full fees, and about refunds and make-up classes; many tutoring centres and hobby classes offer a trial lesson. Slots fill up before music exams and competitions; ask whether you need your own instrument before starting.
