Sheung Wan is part of the Central and Western District on Hong Kong Island. The island is steep, with many streets climbing the hillside; the Central–Mid-Levels escalator links Central with the Mid-Levels and the Peak Tram runs up to The Peak. Offices, malls and old neighbourhood shops sit side by side, restaurants are packed at the office lunch hour (roughly 13:00–14:00), and with parking scarce the MTR, tram or bus is usually easier than driving. Sheung Wan's Des Voeux Road West and Bonham Strand West are known for dried seafood, ginseng and herbal shops, which are busiest before Lunar New Year.

Excellent beef noodles- bouncy good chew egg noodles with soft meat, marginally leaning salty soup but delicious. These are brought over from their same owned brisket noodle soup store on the same block. The fish bone congeee super flavourful and less ricey than it was soupy which made it feel lighter and more flavourful, the pork liver was fresh and yum and the fried dough stick such an aromatic flavour & texture addition. Pan fried Fish cakes delicious! So QQ and fragrant. Note on ordering: you can order off the English menu, and you can mix and match anything. E.g. we wanted ox tendon, beef & radish in a noodle soup, and fish bones, belly & pork liver in congee- easily done. CASH only!

I had a congee with meatballs. They’re pretty generous with them too - I had at least eight in my bowl. Grabbed a plate of fritters too which I enjoy dunking in the congee. Oh and the biggest plus - the super friendly and welcoming lady working here. :)

cheap and delicious! $37 for a small beef congee, tasted nice but slightly more salty than other bowls i’ve had. beef was tender with some fatty pieces. congee was very smooth. service was also kind however the restaurant itself is very old and only takes cash. would return for a cheap, comforting meal :)

I’m really glad I visited for a quick breakfast! We dined amongst locals and the service was quick and food was heartwarming (reminds me of home). There are plenty of congee options too. The youtiao wasn’t very fresh though so I docked some points on food.

Woke up early and wanted to grab a quick breakfast downstairs. Saw Sang Kee right next door, which was an easy first choice, so I went straight in. Didn’t expect there to be a queue so early in the morning, but it was definitely worth it. The food was really good — I ordered the pork liver and fish belly, both of which were very well done and highly recommended. It does get busy in the morning and only gets more crowded, but the turnover is quite fast. If you’re dining alone, you won’t have to wait too long unless you’re in a big group.
