Wan Chai is part of the Wan Chai District on Hong Kong Island. The north shore of Hong Kong Island is one of the densest business areas in the city: the MTR Island Line runs from Kennedy Town to Chai Wan, the trams ("ding dings") between Kennedy Town and Shau Kei Wan, and many businesses trade from upper floors of office blocks and older tenement buildings. The south side is known for beaches, trails and fishing harbours such as Repulse Bay, Stanley and the Aberdeen typhoon shelter, which get busy at weekends and on public holidays. Wan Chai mixes the office towers around the Convention and Exhibition Centre with old markets and tenement buildings, and nearby restaurants get busy during big trade fairs.

Had the chicken kimchi rice bowl and honestly it was quite mediocre. Maybe if I worked in the area it would be an ok option for lunch but the food lacked in flavour for me

I visited at around 4 a.m., and from the moment I walked in, the staff member at the entrance had a very unpleasant attitude. When I tried to place an order, the staff member let out a big sigh and simply pointed toward the table, indicating that I should order from there. The food came out quickly and tasted good, but because of the attitude of the staff member at the counter, the whole experience was ruined, and even the food didn’t taste as enjoyable anymore. I honestly could not believe that someone working in the service industry would treat a customer this way. This was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. I have absolutely no desire to visit this place again.

Loved it a place to grab Japanese style fast food. Quality ingredients and so fulfilling as meals. Draw back is they only Octopus.

I love how introvert friendly HK restos are. For those who aren't familiar, people/customers place their orders at the table by scanning the QR code provided. There are options to pay online or at the cashier. The food/s are served almost immediately after paying. I ordered the Beef Gyudon (my go-to order). The taste was good but it was less flavorful than the one in Sukiya Japan. Don't get me wrong, this one was good too, it just has a milder flavor. Nonetheless, it's very satisfying and filling. We went there a few minutes before lunch time, so there was no queue yet. We were able to find seats immediately. When we passed by the place later that day (around dinner time), there really was a massive queue outside, most are locals. This implies that Sukiya is a hit among locals.

Sukiya in Wanchai offers a quick and affordable Japanese meal. The space is small, and it can feel cramped during peak hours. I tried their shredded egg crepe eel bowl with beef rice, and for a fast-food style joint, it was served in just two minutes. The meal was tasty, with juicy meats and a nice balance of gravy on the rice—not too salty. The side salad could have been served warmer, but overall, it’s a solid choice for a quick meal. Service was decent, and the prices are very reasonable. Not a bad spot for a tummy filler!
