Central is part of the Central and Western District on Hong Kong Island. The north shore of Hong Kong Island is one of the densest business areas in the city: the MTR Island Line runs from Kennedy Town to Chai Wan, the trams ("ding dings") between Kennedy Town and Shau Kei Wan, and many businesses trade from upper floors of office blocks and older tenement buildings. The south side is known for beaches, trails and fishing harbours such as Repulse Bay, Stanley and the Aberdeen typhoon shelter, which get busy at weekends and on public holidays. Central is Hong Kong's financial and business heart; the Central–Mid-Levels escalator links the streets up the hill, Lan Kwai Fong and SoHo come alive at night, and the Central piers serve the Outlying Islands.

I visited Don Don Donki whilst searching for proper Japanese green tea, particularly sencha and hojicha, and was pleasantly surprised by both the selection and the prices. I managed to find several excellent options without spending a fortune, which made the visit well worthwhile for a tea lover such as myself. The location was convenient, the shop well stocked, and there was an energetic atmosphere throughout the store. Yet the thing that truly stayed with me was the famous “Don Don Donki” song endlessly playing in the background. It is wonderfully ridiculous, strangely catchy, and almost impossible to forget once it settles into your mind. Hours later, I still found myself humming it whilst walking through the city. Whoever composed that tune deserves a proper round of applause, for they have created something both amusing and remarkably memorable. A delightful place to browse, especially for lovers of Japanese snacks, drinks, and tea.

Visiting Don Don Donki in Hong Kong was such a fun experience. This Japanese specialty store literally has everything!!!! food, alcohol, candy, snacks, makeup, beauty products, and so much more. You could easily spend hours just wandering the aisles. The Japanese skincare selection is massive, and it’s easy to see why so many people love shopping here. From popular beauty brands to unique finds you don’t see everywhere else, the variety is incredible. Every aisle feels packed with something exciting, and it’s impossible not to grab more than you planned. The store itself is lively, busy, and full of energy and the catchy Don Don Donki song playing on repeat is both hilarious and unforgettable. You’ll definitely find yourself humming it long after you leave 😂. If you’re in Hong Kong, this place is a must-visit. Fun, overwhelming in the best way, and perfect for snacks, skincare, and unique Japanese finds.

If you see the blue penguin Don in Central... then you found Don Don Ki. Its a famous Japan discount store that sells a wide variety of snack foods. The display inside the store is chaotic but admittedly fun to explore. I've never seen so many snack food like this in any Japanese store so this is probably a good place to buy gift stuff to take back home. Aside from food the basement area has home essentials and other items like beauty care products. So this is like a convenience store but primarily its well known for the snacks so check it out. Just look for the huge yellow signage with a crowd.
