About THE WANCH

The Wanch is a historic, friendly, hassle-free, international and unpretentious Music Club with high quality service and a wide variety of free live music.

THE WANCH is a local business in Wan Chai, at 1/F, 90 Jaffe Rd, Wan Chai, Hong Kong Island. Locals and visitors alike tend to check the same things before going, so this page brings together the practical details: where it is, how to get in touch, when it is open and how customers rate it. The address puts it on an upper floor of a building (an "upstairs shop", very common in Hong Kong), so note the floor and unit number; lifts can be slow at busy times, and some older buildings only have stairs.

This business does not fit neatly into any of our main categories, which often happens when several kinds of work share one roof or when it offers a service that is rare in the area. The details below come from public sources and from what the business says about itself; contact it directly to confirm what it offers now, what it costs, how to book and whether anything has changed since the details were last updated.

Google lists the opening hours as Mon–Thu 11:30–24:00, Fri 11:30–02:00, Sat 14:00–02:00, Sun 14:00–24:00. It is open seven days a week. Arrangements may differ on public holidays, over Lunar New Year and when a typhoon signal No. 8 or above or a black rainstorm warning is in force, so call before making a special trip. Phone: 3692 5933. Hong Kong numbers have eight digits; from abroad, dial +852 first. More information is on its website, thewanch.hk.

Customers give it an average of 4.5 out of 5 on Google (788 reviews), a high score by any measure.

Wan Chai is part of the Wan Chai District on Hong Kong Island. The north shore of Hong Kong Island is one of the densest business areas in the city: the MTR Island Line runs from Kennedy Town to Chai Wan, the trams ("ding dings") between Kennedy Town and Shau Kei Wan, and many businesses trade from upper floors of office blocks and older tenement buildings. The south side is known for beaches, trails and fishing harbours such as Repulse Bay, Stanley and the Aberdeen typhoon shelter, which get busy at weekends and on public holidays.

Almost 40-year-old Wanchai live music venue turned gastropub. Loaded Nachos and Riff burger are my fav. 🌮 Tortilla chips loaded with cheese, jalapeños, guac; 🍔choose chicken or pulled pork—cheesy, messy, perfect for sharing. 8oz Angus patty with fries; patty slightly dry but crispy fries save it. Great vibe, fair prices—ideal for after-work drinks and live tunes.

I came here three times during my week in HK, twice alone and once with a friend, so yeah, I liked it, but it could have been better. It's a live music venue and there was some kind of HK music festival going on so lots of bands were playing short (30-45 min) sets. I heard basically every rock genre and the full gamut of talent (from great to not great haha), but major props to every performer who got on stage, including college kids. I had dinner twice, both times had a burger, which was okay, They had sponsors for the event (e.g., Carlsberg beer) and were really pushing the 1/2 price sponsor drinks, but I wanted what I wanted. It seemed a little weird that they kept trying to convince me to drink the cheaper drinks, but I guess they had some deal with the sponsors going on. The most annoying thing though, was the table set up. They had an open area near the stage, so the people standing there blocked the entire view of everyone else in the club. I did the math in my head and there was definitely room for enough tables for everyone standing to sit down. Like a dozen people blocked the view of the 25-30 (more?) people sitting at tables. And no one was dancing and most of them w

This is always my go-to spot for lunch. The set menu comes with soup, a tasty main, drink, and dessert. Everything is consistently delicious, the service is friendly and quick, and it’s honestly worth every penny. Never disappoints!

Best live music place in Wan Chai. Not my thing but if you like metal, it's the place to be. Saturday night band is really good. Edit: I don't know why there's no sound in the videos that I uploaded. Probably copyright? But it (music) was... Metal

Came here for lunch. Very reasonable prices with pretty tasty food and well made cocktails. Simple and to the point. Can't ask for much more. The complimentary duck salad was surprisingly well made as opposed to an afterthought at other establishments
