About 旺角熟食市場
旺角熟食市場, a restaurant in Mong Kok, Yau Tsim Mong, is at 九龍旺角上海街557號2 樓. Before heading over it is worth checking the hours, phone number and Google rating below, so the trip is not wasted. The address puts it on an upper floor of a building (an "upstairs shop", very common in Hong Kong), so note the floor and unit number; lifts can be slow at busy times, and some older buildings only have stairs.
When choosing a restaurant, check whether the menu shows prices and the service charge, whether you need to book, and whether there are vegetarian or children's options. Restaurants must hold a licence from the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department, usually displayed inside. Lunar New Year, Mother's Day, Christmas and New Year's Eve are peak booking times, and some restaurants offer set menus or add a surcharge on festive days, so ask ahead. For birthdays or office dinners, ask about private rooms, corkage and cake-cutting fees in advance.
Opening hours: daily, 06:00–02:00. It is open seven days a week. Many small businesses close for a few days around Lunar New Year and may shut early or not open during typhoons and black rainstorms, so check the latest news before you set off. Phone: 3514 4125. Hong Kong numbers have eight digits; from abroad, dial +852 first. Its website is fehd.gov.hk, which may show prices, details of what it offers or online booking.
At 3.6 out of 5 on Google (966 reviews), it sits mid-table; the written reviews say more about service, prices and waiting times than the number does.
Mong Kok is part of the Yau Tsim Mong District in Kowloon. Around Kwun Tong and Kowloon Bay many industrial buildings now house offices, restaurants, gyms and studios, while Kai Tak is a newer district. Kowloon's streets are busiest in the evening and at weekends, shops keep long hours with many open until about 22:00, and the Kwun Tong, Tsuen Wan and Tuen Ma lines plus buses and minibuses reach almost everywhere. Mong Kok is one of Hong Kong's busiest shopping districts: Tung Choi Street (the Ladies' Market) and Fa Yuen Street (Sneakers Street) are lined with small shops, and the buildings along Nathan Road hold countless upstairs shops.

Wanted to eat local "dai chow" for dinner but found this food court above Mongkok wet market and below bus stop centre too. Not too many eateries but liked the 1st shop on Entry which sell breakfast sets and HK milk tea. The helpers uncles here are very helpful and friendly. The 2nd shop next to them sells White Chicken rice set which is OK but do not eat or order their Salt Duck as we were sold "rotten" or "overnight" left overs. Was cheated by that shop.

I ordered spicy chicken with veggie from this shop. It was really good. They help me to change the menu from pork to chicken because I don’t eat pork or beef. They were so nice. Taking order politely and explain everything very well. Definitely recommend this shop for tourist. Thank you so much.

The Mong Kok Cooked Food Market provides an authentic Hong Kong dining experience. It's always a bustling atmosphere that offers delicious and reasonably-priced meals. However, I didn't see any English menus, so it may be challenging for some to interpret what's on offer. 海都車仔麵茶餐廳 serves my favourite cart noodles in Hong Kong so I always drop by each time I am back. For HK$41, you can select 3 dishes with your noodles and a drink. I always order their curry squid and marinated egg, which is incredibly flavoursome. Unlike many other cart noodle restaurants, the marinated egg here is flavoured all the way to the yolk and not just on the surface. 👍

Hawker style eateries about 12? This cooked food center is AC, quite clean and very reasonable priced. Many different cuisines. Connected by a skybridge on the second floor over Shanghai Street to the Langham Place Mall and MTR, very convenient. On this visit the Thai style boneless chicken with rice was decent. The dipping sauce with slightly spicy, sour and sweet taste enhanced the flavor.
