Shau Kei Wan is part of the Eastern District on Hong Kong Island. The island is steep, with many streets climbing the hillside; the Central–Mid-Levels escalator links Central with the Mid-Levels and the Peak Tram runs up to The Peak. Offices, malls and old neighbourhood shops sit side by side, restaurants are packed at the office lunch hour (roughly 13:00–14:00), and with parking scarce the MTR, tram or bus is usually easier than driving. Hong Kong has more than a dozen public holidays a year; around Lunar New Year, Easter, Mid-Autumn and Christmas many businesses change their hours, and some small shops close for three to seven days over Lunar New Year.

Hong Kong's Harbour Crossing is more than just a ferry trip, While some may seek out expensive harbour cruises, the ferry offers an authentic and astonishingly affordable experience that often surpasses them – especially for a couple looking for a memorable event without breaking the bank. The cool harbour breeze and the gentle rocking of the boat create an incredibly romantic and intimate atmosphere. It's an opportunity to simply lean back, take in the grandeur of one of the world's most iconic harbours, and share a quiet moment. No loud commentary, no forced entertainment – just the city itself, unfolding before your eyes. Compared to a costly harbour cruise, the ferry is ridiculously affordable (we paid just a few Hong Kong dollars!). It’s not about luxury; it’s about authenticity and unparalleled views.

Sai wan Ho Ferry point This Ferry point is now operated by the Coral Sea Ferry of long standing from 1991 till now. It operates to Sam Ka Tsuen , Kwun Tong and Tung Lung island-a very eastern remote island of HK. These are good sightseeing spots for both HK citizens and tourists with a very reasonable fare. The most expensive one is the Tung lung island at HKD45 one way and only operates on public holidays. The schedule and fares are listed in the attached photos. The trips are short and pleasant, using old style wooden boats which itself is one of the attractions. On top of that , beautiful views of both HK Victoria harbour as well as the Kowloon Peninsula of HKSAR. It is near to the Lei King Wan and Marine Regional Headquarters. Written on June 28, 2024.

A fast track from Island East to Kowloon East- the whole journey, with the lovely sea view of HK, just lasts for 15 mins at the fee cheaper than MTR

If you are in no hurry while visiting HK you should try the ferry from here to Kowloon. It is about a 20 minutes ride and you get a beautiful view of the HK skyline. On the Kowloon side you can then take the MTR and continue with your journey.
