Central is part of the Central and Western District on Hong Kong Island. The north shore of Hong Kong Island is one of the densest business areas in the city: the MTR Island Line runs from Kennedy Town to Chai Wan, the trams ("ding dings") between Kennedy Town and Shau Kei Wan, and many businesses trade from upper floors of office blocks and older tenement buildings. The south side is known for beaches, trails and fishing harbours such as Repulse Bay, Stanley and the Aberdeen typhoon shelter, which get busy at weekends and on public holidays. Central is Hong Kong's financial and business heart; the Central–Mid-Levels escalator links the streets up the hill, Lan Kwai Fong and SoHo come alive at night, and the Central piers serve the Outlying Islands.

The museum is located at the Central Pier. It can be easily accessed from the pedestrian footbridge from Hong Kong MTR station in IFC. The is a bus terminal near the Central Pier with a good deal of bus lines. This museum has tons of information showcasing the maritime history in Hong Kong. Maritime industry has become very important when the British Empire first colonized Hong Kong. The British Empire has become dominant in maritime power and they utilize its dominance to expand their economic trading to across the globe, which Hong Kong has been well benefited from the British maritime skills and technology. The museum has showcased a lot of relics during the British Hong Kong period, which in a way to learn the history of British Hong Kong. If you want to learn the history of Hong Kong, I think this place is very worth visiting over the Museum of History in East TST as that museum has been heavily revamped with an extremely deep focus on China affairs and the British Hong Kong history has been heavily removed.

It’s quite an impressive museum and exceeded my expectations. It provides a very detailed maritime history of Hong Kong and the south china sea from pre to post colonial times, including as it relates to trade, politics, warfare, culture, and religion. There is a surprisingly high coverage of modern maritime history as well, for the 21st century. For history lovers like me there are some significant artifacts and paintings here of historical value. You can spend over 2 hours here if you take your time to read everything. Good museum for adults.

Great museum. It tells the full story of Hong Kong, including its port and maritime history, and features many exhibits such as ship models and other artifacts. There is also an entire section dedicated to nature conservation and marine protection. For about 3–4 US$\Euros, it’s a nice activity if you have some extra time in the city.

A must-visit if you're into maritime histories. The venue is clean and well air-conditioned. Toilet also available. The price is very reasonable for $30HKD. There were a good collection of Chinese artifacts and ship models. Quite a detailed information of Chinese naval histories and Hong Kong habours. The venue also has a good view into the Victoria Harbour. Convenient to access it you're also catching ferry to the other side of Hong Kong Island. Main entrance is located upstairs on 1st floor.

The museum was excellent and a great value at just $3. It was my first visit where I felt the price was truly justified. The space was very clean, and the amenities were impressive, including restrooms, artwork, vessels, and a marine traffic display for locating ships in the harbor. There was even a telescope available for free to enjoy the view. Overall, it was a fantastic experience. The layout of the museum was well thought out, making it easy to navigate and appreciate the exhibits. Each display was thoughtfully curated, showcasing a variety of marine artifacts that highlighted the area's rich maritime history. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, readily available to answer questions and provide insights. I also appreciated the quiet atmosphere, which allowed for a relaxed exploration of the exhibits without feeling rushed. The telescope was a delightful addition, offering a chance to take in the beautiful surroundings and watch the boats come and go. I left feeling enriched by the experience and eager to return, especially considering the affordable admission fee. Overall, it was a memorable visit that exceeded my expectations.
