Mid-Levels is part of the Central and Western District on Hong Kong Island. The north shore of Hong Kong Island is one of the densest business areas in the city: the MTR Island Line runs from Kennedy Town to Chai Wan, the trams ("ding dings") between Kennedy Town and Shau Kei Wan, and many businesses trade from upper floors of office blocks and older tenement buildings. The south side is known for beaches, trails and fishing harbours such as Repulse Bay, Stanley and the Aberdeen typhoon shelter, which get busy at weekends and on public holidays. Hong Kong summers are hot and humid, and typhoons and rainstorms come mostly in summer and autumn; when the Observatory issues signal No. 8 or above or a black rainstorm warning, many businesses close until it is lifted.

I completely agree with the other negative reviews here because this course is an absolute nightmare and feels like a total cash grab. The instruction is incredibly poor. My tutor failed to teach the complete CPR process, which set me up to fail the exam and forced me to take a retest. To make matters worse, they charge you an extra fee just to take that retest. It really feels like a system designed to fail you just to boost their revenue. Furthermore, be prepared for hidden costs right from the start. You have to pay extra out of pocket for basic course materials that should be included in the tuition. Finally, their administration is completely stuck in the past. They do not even offer an e-certificate, meaning you are forced to waste time traveling to physically pick up a hard copy. Avoid this place at all costs and find a provider that actually cares about teaching you.

That woman reception doesn't help and doesn't take care of customer inquiry for apply first aid course. She played and laughed. I don't recommend anyone come to this organization. Because service extremely poor. Really waste our time. Please fire her! I will changed to apply Red Cross's course. Thank you!

This is definitely the worst course I have ever taken. To begin with, the teaching venue is located at the top of a mountain; from the MTR station, you either need to take a bus or walk for 30 minutes to get there. The class schedule arrangement is a disaster, making it hard to understand the theoretical first aid knowledge. Classes are scheduled on weekdays, running from 9 am to 6 pm—either as 4 consecutive days or a weekly session— which is inflexible for day-shift workers. However, this is not the worst part. The examiners’ attitudes were extremely rude, as if I owed them money. They made me continue the test even after I had finished the 6th cycle of CPR (which normally ends at the 3rd cycle). During the bandage test, if you gave the wrong oral response about the bandaging priority, they did not correct you. And when you finished bandaging, they did not even look at the "patient"; instead, they just told you to remove the bandage and leave quickly. They were also unwilling to answer any of your questions. If you want to ensure you get a first aid certificate, just go to another training provider.

Before enrolling in a first aid course with St. John, please read this review and reconsider your options. First, the instructor may claim a 100% pass rate, but this is misleading. Out of six people I know (both from the course and elsewhere), only one passed the exam on their first attempt. The others had to retake either the exam or the entire course, which is a significant waste of time and money. Additionally, the course charges extra for mandatory reading materials and bandages, which should be included in the course fee. If you fail, the cost to retake the exam is nearly as high as the initial course fee. Second, the instructor and examiners are incredibly rude to students. They make insulting remarks if you’re late, sit in the wrong chair, or don’t strictly follow their instructions. Essentially, they treat you like an elementary school student rather than an adult. They may fail you for minor errors, such as using one pin instead of two for a bandage or miscounting by one in a 150 presses CPR exercise. Moreover, the exam venue is at a remote location and they don’t inform you of your exam results until weeks later, which makes me question whether they intentionally fail s
