Wan Chai is part of the Wan Chai District on Hong Kong Island. The north shore of Hong Kong Island is one of the densest business areas in the city: the MTR Island Line runs from Kennedy Town to Chai Wan, the trams ("ding dings") between Kennedy Town and Shau Kei Wan, and many businesses trade from upper floors of office blocks and older tenement buildings. The south side is known for beaches, trails and fishing harbours such as Repulse Bay, Stanley and the Aberdeen typhoon shelter, which get busy at weekends and on public holidays. Wan Chai mixes the office towers around the Convention and Exhibition Centre with old markets and tenement buildings, and nearby restaurants get busy during big trade fairs.

Great restaurant and yummy food. A bit crowded and busy place. better reserve or arrive before 12.30 for lunch! Recommend the tempura, really good!

Excellent izakya in Wanchai, they are run by Japanese. Japanese-styled and you feel you were in Japan. Love their yakitori, grilled beef tongue, and roasted cod roe. Super yummy, a chill place to hang out with friends.

Disappointing: only 50-60% of the time will you find good food here. Claimed to be ran by Japanese, who have clearly forgotten what Japanese standards are. Good: - White Eel was really good, fresh and bouncy meat - Fried octopus tasted fresh as well. - Quail egg & pork yakitori was innovative, good texture Bad: - Egg and chicken rice bowl was VERY soggy. - Chicken yakitori was WAY overcooked, very dry and firm, which costs >HK$40 per stick - Mandatory appetizer (marinaded beef and vegetables) costs HK$30

I visited this restaurant for set lunch on a weekday. Although the pricing is on the higher side, it’s a very popular spot - I had to wait about 5-10 minutes at the door before getting a table. The interior is decorated in a Japanese izakaya style, and I can imagine it would have a great atmosphere in the evening for drinks. I know their skewers are famous, but I wanted to try the beef tongue, so I ordered the grilled beef tongue set meal. The beef tongue was very flavorful, with just the right thickness - not too thin, and not served rare, but still tender and easy to chew. It was absolutely delicious. Overall, I really enjoyed my lunch here and highly recommend it!

It’s been a week from now visiting this Japanese restaurant. Like their food. The plum taste shark fin bones is very special. Have not really tried in somewhere else before. Tempura is really good, not too oily and makes you want to have another plate! The asparagus pork roll is also tasty and special. I recalled that I had some pork falling apart from the asparagus in other restaurants, but in here, they stay together! Good seating and not too crowded.
