July 24, 2026 Compact temple and easy access to trains and buses. Incense coils and temple interior were quite beautiful. Photos allowed even at the main altar area and dress code not strict for women if you wear tank tops or shorts. Not crowded at 1pm on a Saturday. There is a small library/shop with AC nearby to read and buy books.

Highly recommend a stop at the Yaumatei Tin Hau Temple. The atmosphere is lovely—very serene, peaceful, and blissfully uncrowded. It’s a great place to escape the bustling streets. Inside, you'll find many different deities to pay respects to, ranging from Tin Hau (Mazu) and Guanyin to Bao Gong. The staff were very welcoming and tried their best to guide us, though please note there is a bit of a language barrier as they don't speak much English or Mandarin. I was too exhausted to take many pictures, but the temple itself is beautiful.

Was in the area so popped inside with my friend. This is what I call a "working temple" which is one that isn't just for show. People come to pray, to burn incense, and make offerings to their deceased loved ones. There are three rooms side by side with the middle room being the main area for the coils of incense hanging from the ceiling. A must visit if you're in the area. Entrance is free although if you want incense to pray or make an offering, a monetary donation is required.

A lovely, small temple right in the city center, full of charm and local character. Sometimes you can find calligraphy masters around the area, which makes the visit even more special. I had a wonderful philosophical conversation with one of them—an unforgettable experience. Definitely worth a stop while exploring the city.

Lovely experience - you will.be able to buy lucky charms and ask the local gods for fortune, luck, etc. Even if youre not spiritual in that way you will find wonderful decor, lanterns, incense , etc. Worth a quick visit!

We were here as part of a HAL Grand World Voyage today and I had the opportunity to visit this wonderful temple. Able to offer incense, and assistance in the temple was very helpful.

The Tin Hau Temple at 油麻地 is yet another familiar look and feel of 媽祖 across multiple Chinese settlements. The temple is in the heart of Kowloon with easy access (MTR or walking). There is no ticket required to visit, free to drop by as long as the temple is open. There may be some homeless at the front but they typically move away when the temple opens.

Stumbled upon this place just walking around for lunch and went in to have a look. The place wasn't too crowded when I went on a weekend. The temple has the high threshold doors so take care stepping over that; I don't remember seeing an accessible entrance into the temple complex. You can light and offer incense in the different temples, and there's one where you can bang a drum too. Note that it can get smoky inside from all the incense going. Just outside the temple shop (far right of the complex when facing the entrance, see last couple of pics), there's a DIY stamp rally where you can make your own postcard. Inside the self-service souvenir shop, there's another DIY postcard stamp station of the temple facade. They also sell quite a lot of cute and unique souvenirs inside.
