1.5 hour wait for them to tell me I need to go to a desk and reopen an account I opened with them one month ago. I would avoid using this bank if possible

After inserting card, choose my account for the deposit at the atm, inserted the cheque and it confirmed receipt of 1 cheque. after entering the amount on the screen, the machine said please take back the check. No cheque is returned. Then the "Out of Service". After a while the message is gone. Person behind me transacted no problem. Called the hotline to report the case, the live person said its after hour, call back tomorrow. And it is 830 when I managed to struggle through their jungle of automated phone system. Machine # 554 at 730pm on April 24. And I attempted to report the case to their hotline is 730pm and 8.30pm. Poor service all the way from machine to human beyond doubt. I regret banking with Standard Charter.

Their malfunctioning ATM machine ate my foreign debit card. I went inside their branch the next morning, just for them to tell me that they can’t do anything about it. They also just kept on ignoring me even though I was standing in front of them for several minutes already. HK never beating the allegations of poor customer service.

Tried to change 500k into another currency, and they tried to charge me 10,000HKD for that on a very horrible rate. Then I asked to withdrawn the money to exchange elsewhere, after an hour of fights, they gave me only a third of the money i requested from my own account. They told me that they have arranged the extra cash to he ready in Sheung Wan office. Once I arriived there, at Sheung Wan, nobody knew anythiny about that and they refused to let me cash out 200,000 from my own account. Avoid this bank.

The most perfect pick if you want the absolutely worst service available in Hong Kong. Out of 5 counters only one is working and “working” is overstated. As the staff constantly walks out after a few customers only and just goes somewhere. Then returns, few customers, leaves. Rinse and repeat. Waited for 2 hours (not during peak hours). At the end, when my turn came - was pawned off by unprofessional but very persistent employee to the ATM dowstairs, that I said wouldn’t work out for me. Which, by the way, it didn’t. Again. Result: lost 2 hours and nothing accomplished. Never to ruturn to this purgatory. Only recommend this place if you want to experience trully unparalleled soul trauma with a hint of irreparable brain damage.
