About Acorn Veterinary Hospital

Acorn Veterinary Hospital opened in October 2010 to provide full veterinary care for dogs and cats. Our new fully equipped hospital is located in Sai Ying Pun (Mid Levels West).

Acorn Veterinary Hospital is listed under vets & animal hospitals in Sai Ying Pun, Central and Western. The address is 香港島西營盤第二街68-80號裕新大廈1座. Below you will find what people usually look up before a visit: the exact location, contact details, opening hours and the Google rating.

Vets in Hong Kong must be registered with the Veterinary Surgeons Board. Book ahead where you can and bring vaccination and previous medical records; prices for surgery and tests vary a lot, so ask for a quote. Some animal hospitals offer 24-hour emergency care but not all do, so note the nearest one in advance.

Google lists the opening hours as Mon–Sat 09:00–13:30 and 14:30–19:00, Sun 10:00–13:30 and 14:00–17:00. It opens every day of the week. There is a midday break, so the day is split into two sessions. Arrangements may differ on public holidays, over Lunar New Year and when a typhoon signal No. 8 or above or a black rainstorm warning is in force, so call before making a special trip. Phone: 2540 0228. Hong Kong numbers have eight digits; from abroad, dial +852 first. More information is on its website, acornvets.com.

At 4.2 out of 5 on Google (255 reviews), it sits mid-table; the written reviews say more about service, prices and waiting times than the number does.

Sai Ying Pun is part of the Central and Western District on Hong Kong Island. The island is steep, with many streets climbing the hillside; the Central–Mid-Levels escalator links Central with the Mid-Levels and the Peak Tram runs up to The Peak. Offices, malls and old neighbourhood shops sit side by side, restaurants are packed at the office lunch hour (roughly 13:00–14:00), and with parking scarce the MTR, tram or bus is usually easier than driving. Hong Kong summers are hot and humid, and typhoons and rainstorms come mostly in summer and autumn; when the Observatory issues signal No. 8 or above or a black rainstorm warning, many businesses close until it is lifted.

We truly appreciate the time and care given by Dr. Andy, Dr. Tony, and the entire vet nursing team. Our dog had a urine blockage two days ago, we rushed to emergency hospital for treatment, while we were there, the hospital also diagnosed our dog with gallbladder mucocele. We were advised to go see a specialist immediately, but a friend of mine recommended Dr Andy and Dr Tony to us at Acorn. We came to Acorn for second opinion and thanks to Dr Andy and Dr Tony, they have identified the issue promptly and arranged the cholecystectomy together with the cystotomy surgery on the same day. The surgery was done smoothly and our dog is recovering very well. Coming all the way from Yuen Long to Acorn is the right and the best decision for our dog and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this clinic to anyone in need of exceptional veterinary care. Thank you again, Acorn Team!

I am writing to express my deepest gratitude for the exceptional care and surgical expertise "Dr. Tony" has provided to my two beloved pets, Kimmi and Pal Pal. As a senior Cocker Spaniel, I was incredibly anxious about Kimmi undergoing surgery to remove the tumor on her left cheek. Similarly, I was deeply worried about my Hong Kong Shorthair cat, Pal Pal, and the mast cell tumor on his left eyelid. Both surgeries were an absolute success. Dr. Tony's surgical skills and techniques are truly outstanding. I noticed how incredibly neat and precise the stitches were. The wounds healed beautifully without any redness or swelling. Now that the stitches have been removed, their skin surfaces are perfectly smooth. What I appreciate most, alongside Dr. Tony's amazing skills and his professionalism. I truly valued that Acorn never tried to hard-sell or push any unnecessary products post-surgery. It showed that the genuinely care about the well-being of the animals. Dr. Tony is undoubtedly my top choice for any veterinary surgery. I will highly recommend Dr. Tony and his team to all pet owners I know. Thank you once again for saving my fur babies and giving our family peace of mind.

Dog owners be warned - there is a good chance your dog will die if you choose to take them here. I have personally two experiences here over the years where the treatment given to the animals resulted in ending their lives. First dog was a senior, brought in by my mother to see if anything could be done about his ailing heart condition. Having been the regular at the time, the vet gave no indication that further treatments or visits would only prolong suffering. Knowing our situation, did not advise us, who at the time where inexperienced owners, that our dogs time was naturally coming to a close. Something that more ethical vets later told us. Our dog ended up dying on the table on his final visit to the clinic. NOW, the most recent incident is our toy poodle, which at the time of writing is still an ongoing issue. A week ago, My mother again received reminder from them a new vaccination. Naturally, being the trusting person she is, returned to the clinic. Currently, the poodle is in critical condition with severe inflammation throughout the spinal column. Vaccine given to her has previously been noted to have cases similar happen with other dogs. The vet never indicated poss

While I am not usually someone who writes Google reviews, I genuinely wish I had paid more attention to them before coming to Acorn Veterinary Hospital, and I hope no one else has to experience what I did. We have been bringing our dogs to Acorn for the past 9 months since moving to Hong Kong. Contrary to many reviews, I personally found the reception staff polite and helpful, and we previously had positive experiences with Dr. Bonnie Yang, who was always gentle, patient, and kind. Unfortunately, my experience with Dr. Tony Matthews was completely different and honestly one of the worst professional experiences I have ever had with a veterinarian. One of my dogs underwent femoral head removal surgery in January for Perthes disease, performed by Dr. Tony Matthews. The surgery itself was successful, and for that I was grateful. Recently, however, my dog began limping on the opposite hind leg, so I brought him back for an examination. During the consultation, I felt Dr. Matthews handled my dog in a way that was not gentle. I understand vets need to manipulate muscles and joints during an exam, but my dog suddenly cried out loudly in pain during the inspection. Naturally, my attenti

I always receive efficient and effective service from Team Acorn. The fee is reasonable. I especially want to thank Dr. Andy for his expertise and thorough explanations in every consultation my FLUTD cat has received. We’ve been seeing him for over 8 years, and he’s always patient. Even though we live on the Kowloon side, we consider Acorn as our top option. Not to mention the compassionate team of veterinary assistants in the clinic - everyone is patient and professional. Highly recommended!
