About Boon
French and Japanese cuisine by a mini world-class kitchen
Boon, a Western or Italian restaurant in Kwun Tong, is at 九龍觀塘巧明街106號冠力工業大廈2/F, Shop 1. Before heading over it is worth checking the hours, phone number and Google rating below, so the trip is not wasted. The address puts it on an upper floor of a building (an "upstairs shop", very common in Hong Kong), so note the floor and unit number; lifts can be slow at busy times, and some older buildings only have stairs.
When choosing a restaurant, check whether the menu shows prices and the service charge, whether you need to book, and whether there are vegetarian or children's options. Restaurants must hold a licence from the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department, usually displayed inside. Lunar New Year, Mother's Day, Christmas and New Year's Eve are peak booking times, and some restaurants offer set menus or add a surcharge on festive days, so ask ahead. Many Western restaurants offer weekday set lunches that cost less than dinner; mention any food allergies when ordering.
Google lists the opening hours as daily, 12:00–22:00. It is open seven days a week. Arrangements may differ on public holidays, over Lunar New Year and when a typhoon signal No. 8 or above or a black rainstorm warning is in force, so call before making a special trip. You can call 6633 9495; a phone call is the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or how to get there. As this is a mobile number, a WhatsApp message may also work. More information is on its website, boonhonbu.com.
At 4.2 out of 5 on Google (154 reviews), it sits mid-table; the written reviews say more about service, prices and waiting times than the number does.

I rarely give negative comments to restaurants but this is a huge disappointment. Food is ordinary but charging generally expensive in Kwun Tong ($~130 for a shrimp pasta). Not to mention it’s in an industrial building where rent shall not be as high as other places in HK. Service is to be considered bad. Self order with a QR code. No water voluntarily provided to customers. The waiter was like having a bad day and slamming dishes onto my table. Typical HK cha chhen teng style but this isn’t what this place aimed for. AND they charged me 10% for such “service”. The total charge was way beyond what it deserves in this area for this quality of food and service. I don’t mind paying more for the food but the owner needs to look into the service of their staff especially the male waiter normal built without glasses. I hate to say that but I don’t feel like being respected there.

One of the most impressive western fusion food that I’ve been. Regardless of main courses or the dessert or even their drinks, all did it well and delicious. Glad that I found this hidden gem.

We went to Boon for team lunch. They have a side room where it can accommodate 20 person that was perfect. The food were well prepared. The lunch set came with appetizer (curry cauliflower and daily soup) which was tasty. Everything were fine.

I got influenced by Instagram so I went here for lunch but actually it turns out quite disappointing 😢the pasta itself was pretty uncooked personally I think it is quite hard, 😩but they do offer a lunch combo that include drinks daily soup and a salad which I appreciate. 🥗

A dinner table for 2 next to the window. Cozy and quiet even on a public holiday. Woody decor with a sense of european and japanese blend. Ordered the 5-course dinner set. Soup was lobster and crab. Pretty sure it was homemade as the initial flavour is strong and the after taste is light. The cheese goes well with the garlic. The bread balanced them all. Steak was medium well and perfectly handled. Sides are juicy and aromatic. Prawn linguine was was okay. The urchin sauce was fresh and carrying a little sea-water saltiness. Dessert is the toast. 100% recommended. Pretty sure the vanilla ice is handmade. The toast soft and scrumptious. We also ordered a pistachio milkshake. Also recommended. Very flavourful and nutty without heavy aftertaste. Great night out. Well done chef. A bit under-priced.
