A small little typical HK eatery. Good selection of items on the menu. Abalone porridge was delicious, very generous with the shellfish. Staff were all exceptionally friendly and chatty. Had a very good time with them, though the stay in Hkg was just under two days, I was back at the eatery 4 times, the mango mochi was excellent and very refreshing.

Both food and service were amazing! We ordered the chives dumplings (very good if you love chives), braised beef brisket was very tender and came with tendon and tripe, porridge was silky smooth, and wantons were delicious as well. The yinyeung and milk tea was also delicious. Besides this, the waitress was super friendly and made us feel very welcomed in Hong Kong. So happy we paid this shop a visit :)

I’ve been visiting Chiu Fat since the early 90s, back when it was still at its old location. It used to be a very popular spot, especially among airline crew—Singapore Airlines flight attendants in particular—who would come for their signature dumplings, cuttlefish balls, and homemade chili sauce. I only recently discovered that they’ve relocated to Lok Road. For a long time, I thought they had closed down for good, so I was genuinely delighted to find out they’re still in business. Even better, the food tastes just as good as I remember—full of the same comforting, nostalgic flavors. The lady boss and staff are incredibly warm and welcoming, making every visit feel personal and relaxed. This time, we ordered the assorted balls and dumpling soup rice noodles, pork liver dry noodles, and steamed chicken. Every dish brought back fond memories, and we left with very happy stomachs. As we were leaving, the staff even asked if we’d be coming back again for dinner that same night—such a sweet gesture that made us feel right at home. Truly grateful to see this place still going strong.

The kind of place you come back to just for a comforting bowl of congee. Taste: Congee is silky, smooth, and well-balanced, very comforting. Ingredients taste fresh with no fishy smell. BBQ pork is average and slightly dry. Ambience: Simple local eatery, not fancy but clean enough, busy vibe Service: Fast and efficient, typical Hong Kong style Price: Mid-range, fair for the quality Summary: Great congee, other dishes are just okay. Worth a stop if nearby

Hole in the wall but the food was delicious. We ordered a bowl of wonton, chicken pork liver porridge, and beef porridge. The porridge was cooked to perfection and the added toppings were flavorful. The wonton was the best I’ve had in HK. Each bite was filled with flavorful shrimp and pork. Highly recommend.
