Wan Chai is part of the Wan Chai District on Hong Kong Island. The island is steep, with many streets climbing the hillside; the Central–Mid-Levels escalator links Central with the Mid-Levels and the Peak Tram runs up to The Peak. Offices, malls and old neighbourhood shops sit side by side, restaurants are packed at the office lunch hour (roughly 13:00–14:00), and with parking scarce the MTR, tram or bus is usually easier than driving. Wan Chai mixes the office towers around the Convention and Exhibition Centre with old markets and tenement buildings, and nearby restaurants get busy during big trade fairs.

The building was constructed in 1957. Form part of the Blue House Cluster. It is the youngest building among the three buildings. A modern four-storey tenement building with concrete structure. Together with Blue House and Yellow House, their revitalization has won the Award of Excellence of the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation.
