Wan Chai is part of the Wan Chai District on Hong Kong Island. The island is steep, with many streets climbing the hillside; the Central–Mid-Levels escalator links Central with the Mid-Levels and the Peak Tram runs up to The Peak. Offices, malls and old neighbourhood shops sit side by side, restaurants are packed at the office lunch hour (roughly 13:00–14:00), and with parking scarce the MTR, tram or bus is usually easier than driving. Wan Chai mixes the office towers around the Convention and Exhibition Centre with old markets and tenement buildings, and nearby restaurants get busy during big trade fairs.

Nice place good for photo taking. At night it will be crowded. There is no one during the day time.

A Beautiful Piece of Hong Kong History That the Community Refused to Lose! 💙🇭🇰 The Blue House in Wan Chai is one of those places where you shouldn’t just take a photo and walk away. Spend some time exploring it and reading the displays because there is a wonderful story behind these colourful old buildings. 🏠💙💛 What fascinated me most was learning how this area once functioned almost like a little community within a community. People lived incredibly close together, and so much of everyday life could be found within a stone’s throw — homes, shops, services and neighbours all connected within this small cluster. But perhaps the most interesting part of the story is how the community fought to preserve it. 💪🇭🇰 Residents and supporters opposed redevelopment and displacement, and the preservation effort eventually allowed this historic neighbourhood to survive rather than simply disappearing under another modern development. And thankfully it did survive! ❤️ Today, the restored Blue House Cluster is incredibly photogenic. 📸 The striking blue exterior immediately catches your eye, but look closer and there are so many little details — old windows and balconies, traditional signs, v

An iconic building with plenty of history and I really enjoyed the vibe and colors. The balconies especially add to the charm and atmosphere. It’s a fun spot to check out if you’re in the area.

Historical but the lines are oh so so long. Be prepared. If you explore Wan Chai, start here and work your way back to Central passing through the wet markets and stalls of Indo-Malay vendors and legacy toy stores and bargain shops.
