Vets in Hong Kong must be registered with the Veterinary Surgeons Board. Some animal hospitals offer 24-hour emergency care but not all do, so note the nearest one in advance.

Opening hours: Mon–Fri 09:00–13:00 and 15:00–18:00, Sat 09:00–13:00 and 14:00–17:00, Sun closed. That makes 6 working days a week. Note the break in the middle of the day: it opens in two sessions. Many small businesses close for a few days around Lunar New Year and may shut early or not open during typhoons and black rainstorms, so check the latest news before you set off. You can call 2865 4320; a phone call is the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or how to get there. More information is on its website, home.netfront.net.

Customers give it an average of 4.3 out of 5 on Google (141 reviews), a high score by any measure.

Wan Chai is part of the Wan Chai District on Hong Kong Island. The island is steep, with many streets climbing the hillside; the Central–Mid-Levels escalator links Central with the Mid-Levels and the Peak Tram runs up to The Peak. Offices, malls and old neighbourhood shops sit side by side, restaurants are packed at the office lunch hour (roughly 13:00–14:00), and with parking scarce the MTR, tram or bus is usually easier than driving. Wan Chai mixes the office towers around the Convention and Exhibition Centre with old markets and tenement buildings, and nearby restaurants get busy during big trade fairs.

Now only with Dr Kathryn left, we still went as a new pawrent with the reviews. We left disappointed with a few reasons: - we went there for 3rd vaccine. Because we have a Shiba, we have quite a lot of attitude from her and nurses about behaviors. We are asked to help open mouth for checks etc. We are fine but find this vibe uninviting - at completion we were issued few "meds" which are publicly available with 80% markup compared to market available options. The communication was quite tricky as if these are prescriptions. The nurses stuttered when explaining to us on how to take (fine with the premium but unhappy about the attitude) - we also asked about desex. the nurses stuttered about pricing that doesn't quite give us trust to build a relationship. She sounded like she doesn't want a relationship with a neighboring dog anyways. Left feeling shady so not a pleasant first time experience

Phoenix is the best vet clinic one could find. Dr. Tom and Dr. Catherine are most responsible and top rate professionals, more importantly they genuinely love animals. The nurse Christine is saintly!!

I found Dr Kathryn when I was looking for help with my FIP and gastro suffering kitten, and heard she was great with small animal nutrition. Compared to other vets who prescribe appetite stimulants or ask you to wait or try other foods etc, she was quite straightforward about requiring syringe feeding in my specific case and helped me with the step by step plan. It was a whole hearted effort to help my cat become stronger and improve his immunity through his food. Aside from this specific part, she and her team of nurses (big gold star to Christine who is a cat whisperer) have helped me through both my kittens (now healthy 5 year old ginger boys) urgent appointments, pneumonia, asthma, vomit incidents, blood checks and diagnosis. They also gifted me my third baby from their own rescue efforts :) They don't waste your money and have real interest and compassion in the pets wellbeing.

Dr Kathryn Tai at Phoenix Animal Clinic is splendid. Although I have taken my dog and cats for annual checks and routine vaccinations, Dr Tai has always been kind, patient, well mannered, caring and considerate without suggesting unnecessary treatments commonly done by some other vets I have encountered. She would even come out of the clinic to calm and attend my elderly dog who got overly excited.

The female vet, Kathryn, is an incredibly impatient person and should learn to be a bit friendly towards people. After taking our pet to this clinic and having a followup with her, i feel there are definitely better places to go out there who provide better advice and more importantly, hospitality. If you want a vet who has a superiority complex and keeps changing their mind on how to diagnose your pet, then please come here.
