Mong Kok is part of the Yau Tsim Mong District in Kowloon. Around Kwun Tong and Kowloon Bay many industrial buildings now house offices, restaurants, gyms and studios, while Kai Tak is a newer district. Kowloon's streets are busiest in the evening and at weekends, shops keep long hours with many open until about 22:00, and the Kwun Tong, Tsuen Wan and Tuen Ma lines plus buses and minibuses reach almost everywhere. Mong Kok is one of Hong Kong's busiest shopping districts: Tung Choi Street (the Ladies' Market) and Fa Yuen Street (Sneakers Street) are lined with small shops, and the buildings along Nathan Road hold countless upstairs shops.

I have been coming to this restaurant for years. Just noticed the owner has changed. The new owners look lovely but the food was so disappointing. I ordered rice noodle (the one used in pad Thai) with Tom Yum Kung soup and added $13 extra to change the main dishes from shredded chicken to chicken leg. Look what I got😂each piece was smaller than my pinky. Also the Tom Yum Kung tasted different too - the color was the same but watered down too much. The noodle felt like Mixian. A bit weird. I guess I need to find another Thai restaurant around

December 2024: The lunch deal of around HKD 50 for curry/rice/a drink is excellent. We also had the fish on a stove, which was very good but relatively pricey as it was HKD 198.

Stumbled upon Icon Thai whilst in search of food in MK with my family. The fried rice with seafood and pineapple was delectable, more importantly reminiscent of the indigenous Thai flavours. The children enjoyed the unique drinks which are pertinent to Thai culture. I noticed that the chefs were also of Thai background which explains the food’s authenticity. Overall a pleasant experience.

As much as they have many features and actors/actresses patronising the restaurant, I was somewhat disappointed as the food served simply makes them a "Thai styled cha-chan-ting" (Thai styled local cafeteria). The green curry chicken I ordered was not very fresh unfortunately, and the service is not impressive either. All in all, an average spot in the heart of all Mongkok's goodness.

With the price they charge, the food was quite decent! The tong-yum-kung broth rice-noodles were quite good - with an authentic spicy punch TYK should have! But try to avoid the peak hour as this store is quite tiny and I would imagine the store would be quite crowdy during the dinner hours!
