Sham Shui Po is part of the Sham Shui Po District in Kowloon. Around Kwun Tong and Kowloon Bay many industrial buildings now house offices, restaurants, gyms and studios, while Kai Tak is a newer district. Kowloon's streets are busiest in the evening and at weekends, shops keep long hours with many open until about 22:00, and the Kwun Tong, Tsuen Wan and Tuen Ma lines plus buses and minibuses reach almost everywhere. Sham Shui Po is known for the electronics and second-hand stalls of Apliu Street and the fabric and button shops around Ki Lung Street and Yu Chau Street, where many older shops still prefer cash.

Saw on social media that this shop is very popular for it's mochi, especially the hype recently about their pistachio mochi. Decided to come here early to check it out if they have it. Arrived slightly before 8am and waited for a while, wondering if it would open at 8. At 8 sharp, the lights lit up but the shutters were not up yet, waited a while for the shutters to be up and the people to arrange the items. Could see that the place is popular because there are signs to ask people to queue up. So the lady asked us what we wanted, and she told us probably we need to wait about 45 minutes for the mochi to be ready. We ordered, paid and went around the neighborhood for a walk before returning. When we came back could see the lady started working on our orders. Each order is made to order and she would put the ordered fillings into the mochi one by one. Only ordered a pistachio and a yam one because was quite full after breakfast so couldn't think of food. Brought back to the hotel and when I remembered to eat it, it was probably 2 hours later. I do recommend to eat it while it's fresh, could feel it's still a little lukewarm on the mochi skin. Loved both flavours which happens to be

A lovely old bakery with all sorts of traditional chinese style baked products … chicken biscuit is very interesting and should try, almond biscuit is also good. Mochi is mad freshly. Also have mooncake and chinese new year specific pastry offered all year round. Great place for nostalgic or local treat. Hidden gem and a good options for gifting too

Best mochi in Hong Kong! Wish I took more photos! I tried the pistachio, black sesame, chocolate, taro and meat floss with peanut mochis. They are made to order and are not refrigerated, the most old school and traditional method. The mochi fillings are not too sweet, I even find the pistachio one a bit savory. I cannot recoomend them enough! Expect to queue for your turn! And people won't stand in an orderly line lol, they'll just crowd round and shout out their orders. You'll get a ticket with your number after you pay and then you'll have to wait for your goodies. Also there was no English menu that I could see.

Kwan Hong Bakery is one of my favorite places for pastries in Sham Shui Po. The bakery is often crowded, and there's usually a queue every time I visit. However, I think it's worth the wait, as the taste of their mochi is truly exceptional. My recommendation is pistachio mochi, very tasty. For those visiting for the first time, it’s a good idea to ask people in the queue for guidance on how to order and queue, as the process can be a bit confusing at first.

Saw a queue up at their central market pop-up, so bought 4 delicious soft chewy mochi’s with very yummy fillings, especially the pistachio and ginger sweet potato. Love that family biz vibe, very friendly people. Bought some CNY treats in forms of palmier and pistachio 角仔 - palmier is fine and well presented, but sadly, the 角仔 had that overused oil taste… bought 2 packets at $100@ and had to throw them out. Ouch.
