Quite busy on a Monday evening at River Sichuan Restaurant. Super value for money set dinner for two. Our hot oil boiled dish was wonderful and all dishes come with authentic flavors. The dessert of soma this jelly was fantastic too. We had a pleasant evening chatting away and the restaurant has a cosy ambience. Perfect food to go with beer. Highly recommend and will certainly come back.

Most disappointing restaurant I just HAD to write an English review to warn any tourist that plans on going to this restaurant. First off, none of the dishes are authentic at all, they replaced chili with ground pepper which just destroyed the flavor, there shouldn’t be spring onions in this dish, there should be Sichuan peppercorn and anise but none of them are in it. They called themselves authentic SiChuan food but they used literally all the wrong ingredients that they could possibly use. I don’t see any ingredients that are supposed to be in the dish, the fish are supposed to be boneless but they aren’t, so they might be fooling tourists but certainly not us. Honestly I have no idea how they got that much likes, but I know my SiChuan food and that is nothing SiChuan whatsoever. We didn’t even finish the food because it was so bad, we just the paid the bill and left, the lady at the counter saw that and didn’t even want to give us the receipt for proof because she knows that we’re gonna write a very very very bad review about our experience, we had to demand it from her. Some of the best Chinese food in HK! The restaurant even has egg, rice and tomato on their menu (personal favorite). When we arrived, it wasn't all too busy but it got busier as time went by. We still got served in a timeous manner and the service was good. The food was absolutely delicious. We didn't order much on the day, but I'll be going back again to try their other dishes. My favorite thing about their menu is that they give you dish options that they can make meatless for anyone who might want that; it's accommodating. Unfortunately, this venue isn't very accessible. It's on the side of the SYP escalators and requires people to either walk up or take the escalator up. I didn't spot any elevators in the area around.

River Sichuan Restaurant is my go to spicy Sichuan restaurant!! Authentic smells and flavours of Sichuan, and the best you can get in Hong Kong! If you love spicy food, this is the place to go. The flavours are bold and has the taste of China. The restaurant is clean and homely feeling, and the staff are friendly. The spicy fish dish is a must have! Would definitely recommend to bring friends and spicy food lovers here!
