Wan Chai is part of the Wan Chai District on Hong Kong Island. The north shore of Hong Kong Island is one of the densest business areas in the city: the MTR Island Line runs from Kennedy Town to Chai Wan, the trams ("ding dings") between Kennedy Town and Shau Kei Wan, and many businesses trade from upper floors of office blocks and older tenement buildings. The south side is known for beaches, trails and fishing harbours such as Repulse Bay, Stanley and the Aberdeen typhoon shelter, which get busy at weekends and on public holidays. Wan Chai mixes the office towers around the Convention and Exhibition Centre with old markets and tenement buildings, and nearby restaurants get busy during big trade fairs.

I visited this restaurant last November and was thoroughly impressed by the roast pigeon and the thoughtful execution of the appetizers. Given it was a rare gathering for me and my friends, I highly recommended this place. Unfortunately, while the appetizer menu has been completely updated, the food quality has significantly declined. The King Crab spring rolls were visually stunning, but the wrapper was overly hard and lacked crispness. The crab meat filling was fishy and unpleasant—reminiscent of low-quality canned crab. The tuna toast was underwhelming; apart from the use of charcoal bread, there was nothing special about it. The two-flavor fried chicken was mediocre; the sweet and sour version was passable, but the chicken itself lacked juiciness. The foie gras appetizer was entirely forgettable. As for the seafood pasta, it was heavily oversalted, and the sea urchin lacked any natural sweetness. The service was equally problematic: the staff were completely unfamiliar with the menu. When I asked about the lobster, the waiter claimed it was "blue lobster," which it clearly was not. Furthermore, it was baked until it was dry and tough—entirely inedible. While the roast pigeon ma

While the food was acceptable, the execution fell short of the high rating and price point. The appetizers lacked depth in flavor, and the sashimi tacos were served with soggy shells and under-seasoned fish. Despite the "tapas-style" explanation, the portions were disproportionately small for the cost; we spent nearly 900 per person and left hungry, with the staff unable to clarify more filling menu options. Having compared notes with friends who visited separately, we collectively found the experience lacked a "wow factor" and did not offer sufficient value.

The overall experience was great — the bar table had a fantastic vibe, and the waiters were incredibly attentive. The Red Prawn Pasta was a standout - it was juicy, and the noodles had that perfect Yee Mein-like texture that soaked up the rich broth. While the Beef Tartare was just average, the Fermented Tofu Butter on crispy-yet-soft bread was a surprise and tasty. We finished with the Pistachio Affogato—the HK Milk Tea and Baileys combo is brilliant and definitely worth the carbs.

I was recommended by a friend to visit this restaurant and the food here surprised me! The staff (Alex) was friendly and helpful. We followed his recommendations and had a satisfying dinner here. Thank you Alex and WAKARAN for the night here! A little down side on this dining experience is the Sangria. The glasses was filled with too much ice so the Sangria was kept at a freezing temperature which making my teeth quite uncomfortable (which I don’t have sensitive teeth actually) But overall my partner and I were really satisfied about the food and service here.

Overall food wise is not bad, the brioche bread with their homemade sauce was quite delicious. Presentation of the dishes was quite nice. Service wise they definitely needed improvement, sometimes they just drop the dishes without explaining what it is, sometimes they explain it in a quick rush and don’t care whether you heard it or not. Another problem with the service is they don’t really pay attention to the client’s dining pace, they just bring the food out whenever it is ready from the kitchen, but then there is no space to put some many dishes on the dining table. Atmosphere wise main dining table seats are comfortable enough, they also offer kitchen counter seats and high chairs counter next to the entrance. Price wise is reasonable for its quantity, quality and presentations.
