When visiting a temple, church or other place of worship, dress respectfully, keep your voice down and follow any rules on photography. Lunar New Year, major religious festivals and weekends draw the biggest crowds, and some places only open at set times; if you want to join a service or ceremony, check the timetable first. Some temples are especially crowded at Lunar New Year and on deity birthdays, so avoid peak times.

Opening hours: daily, 08:00–17:00. It is open seven days a week. Many small businesses close for a few days around Lunar New Year and may shut early or not open during typhoons and black rainstorms, so check the latest news before you set off. You can call 2573 2086; a phone call is the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or how to get there. More information is on its website, ctc.org.hk.

Wan Chai is part of the Wan Chai District on Hong Kong Island. The north shore of Hong Kong Island is one of the densest business areas in the city: the MTR Island Line runs from Kennedy Town to Chai Wan, the trams ("ding dings") between Kennedy Town and Shau Kei Wan, and many businesses trade from upper floors of office blocks and older tenement buildings. The south side is known for beaches, trails and fishing harbours such as Repulse Bay, Stanley and the Aberdeen typhoon shelter, which get busy at weekends and on public holidays. Wan Chai mixes the office towers around the Convention and Exhibition Centre with old markets and tenement buildings, and nearby restaurants get busy during big trade fairs.

A Peaceful Hidden Gem in Wan Chai! I visited this temple in the late afternoon, and it was incredibly peaceful with almost no crowds. The temple staff were amazing—very helpful, patient, and guided me through every step of the praying process. Inside, there is a shrine dedicated to Justice Bao (Bao Zheng) along with many other deities. Getting There: Just a quick heads-up—the walk up to the temple involves a bit of an uphill climb, so save some energy for that! The walk back down is much easier, though. Space: The temple itself is quite small and compact. If you happen to visit during peak hours or holidays, I imagine it could get pretty crowded and tight inside. Overall, it is a serene and spiritual place right in the heart of the city. Highly recommended!

A beautiful temple full of history. Remember, respect the spaces of the faithful. I recommend staying on the perimeter to take photos so as not to disturb their prayers.

A splendid temple hidden in plain sight - just a stroll up from the busy streets of Wan Chai and the Blue House! It's beautifully quiet and peaceful, the staff manning the temple are also incredibly friendly and patient. If you're not sure on how to proceed with prayers or how to pay respects, you can just ask and someone will help (they speak English too). Worth the visit and I'll definitely be back to offer thanks during my next trip.

Wan Chai Pak Tai Temple is a place that noticeably slows down the pace of life, as if entering the temple triggers a brain reset. The gentle scent of incense fills the air, heralding that this is a sanctuary far removed from the hustle and bustle of the city.

The Wan Chai Pak Tai Temple, also known as Yuk Hui Kung, was built by local residents of Wanchai in 1863. The temple is dedicated to Pak Tai. There are several Pak Tai Temples in Hong Kong and this is the biggest one. The temple is a declared monument of Hong Kong on 25 October 2019 and is protected under the Antiquities and Monuments Ordinance. As of December 2024, there are 136 declared monuments in Hong Kong.

Nice view and peaceful corner when you walk through Ma Hang Park. Or if you don’t plan to take the whole route in the park, stop by this place you will pretty much capture the best part of the bay. The pace in the temple was kinda narrow and the temple itself was small but won’t limit you from enjoying the place
