About 無肉食

無肉食 is a vegetarian restaurant in Mong Kok, Yau Tsim Mong, at 2樓, 88號 Sai Yee St, Mong Kok, Kowloon. Locals and visitors alike tend to check the same things before going, so this page brings together the practical details: where it is, how to get in touch, when it is open and how customers rate it. The address puts it on an upper floor of a building (an "upstairs shop", very common in Hong Kong), so note the floor and unit number; lifts can be slow at busy times, and some older buildings only have stairs.

When choosing a restaurant, check whether the menu shows prices and the service charge, whether you need to book, and whether there are vegetarian or children's options. Restaurants must hold a licence from the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department, usually displayed inside. Lunar New Year, Mother's Day, Christmas and New Year's Eve are peak booking times, and some restaurants offer set menus or add a surcharge on festive days, so ask ahead. Some vegetarian restaurants are fully vegan while others use eggs and dairy, so ask if it matters to you.

Google lists the opening hours as daily, 11:30–16:00 and 18:00–22:00. It opens every day of the week. Lunch and dinner are served in separate sessions with a break in between. Arrangements may differ on public holidays, over Lunar New Year and when a typhoon signal No. 8 or above or a black rainstorm warning is in force, so call before making a special trip. Phone: 2889 2938. Hong Kong numbers have eight digits; from abroad, dial +852 first. Its website is facebook.com, which may show prices, details of what it offers or online booking.

At 3.9 out of 5 on Google (1,103 reviews), it sits mid-table; the written reviews say more about service, prices and waiting times than the number does.

Mong Kok is part of the Yau Tsim Mong District in Kowloon. Around Kwun Tong and Kowloon Bay many industrial buildings now house offices, restaurants, gyms and studios, while Kai Tak is a newer district. Kowloon's streets are busiest in the evening and at weekends, shops keep long hours with many open until about 22:00, and the Kwun Tong, Tsuen Wan and Tuen Ma lines plus buses and minibuses reach almost everywhere.

When I work from Hong Kong, I always stay in Mong Kok. 4-5 days a week this is my buffet lunch. The food is great, and the staff is great. What more could you want? :)

Located on the 2nd floor so you can take the elevator or stairs. Went for lunch on a Friday and it was fantastic. It got very busy so glad that we showed up before noon. Lots of options and they kept replacing dishes with new ones when they got low.

I came for dinner and enjoyed the experience. The food is good quality for a buffet and is restocked frequently. I liked the stir fried noodles and veggie curry a lot. They also had really ripe and juicy watermelon chunks! My only complaint would be that some of the food wasn't very hot, and that the proportion of fried foods is a bit high. Come hungry to get your money's worth. Lunch or afternoon tea is a bit cheaper than dinner.

After having mostly great reviews of this buffet was eager to see how this was. Biggest plus for this restaurant is that it is all vegetarian. The day we went all the dishes were vegan, but three. So I classified this as even a bigger plus. There are enough signs on all dishes what allergens they had. The three dishes we saw had eggs a fried rice, a noodle dish and a Hot & Sour soup. When we went there was a lineup of about 5 but we quickly moved ahead in 5-10 minutes. It got a lot busier after we sat. But there are lots of tables and people keep moving out. Many in the line are takeout customers as well. The staff is very quick in clearing out the tables. Although there are clear signs that customers are supposed to take their dishes away and put the green waste (leftover food) in a bin and cutlery and plates separately. But some do not. The inside is clean and bright but the tables are bit tighter and but difficult to stand up and go for food. The food is good some deep fried fritters and most other items are healthier. None of them are overly spiced or seasoned. There are a few different spicy sauce bottles if you wish to. The food good and many dishes were completely changed

I've been to Ahimsa several times and appreciate the variety of vegetarian and vegan options on their buffet. I recently visited the Mong Kok branch with friends and we enjoyed the diverse selection of snacks, soups, vegetables, noodles, desserts, and drinks. Note that some dishes contain milk and/or egg, and these aren't always clearly marked. If you have dietary restrictions, it's best to confirm ingredients with the staff. I particularly enjoyed the cold noodles and coconut dessert soup. We went on a Saturday evening and it was quite busy, but we were seated immediately. The buffet was well-maintained, with dishes being replenished quickly. Be aware that lunch and teatime are significantly cheaper than dinner. Consider visiting during those times to save money.
