Vets in Hong Kong must be registered with the Veterinary Surgeons Board. Book ahead where you can and bring vaccination and previous medical records; prices for surgery and tests vary a lot, so ask for a quote. Some animal hospitals offer 24-hour emergency care but not all do, so note the nearest one in advance.

Google lists the opening hours as Mon–Sat 08:00–18:00, Sun 08:00–13:00. It is open seven days a week. Arrangements may differ on public holidays, over Lunar New Year and when a typhoon signal No. 8 or above or a black rainstorm warning is in force, so call before making a special trip. You can call 2967 1876; a phone call is the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or how to get there.

It has a Google rating of 4.2 out of 5 from 18 reviews. Opinions are mixed but broadly steady, and the latest reviews are the best guide to what to expect.

Shau Kei Wan is part of the Eastern District on Hong Kong Island. The north shore of Hong Kong Island is one of the densest business areas in the city: the MTR Island Line runs from Kennedy Town to Chai Wan, the trams ("ding dings") between Kennedy Town and Shau Kei Wan, and many businesses trade from upper floors of office blocks and older tenement buildings. The south side is known for beaches, trails and fishing harbours such as Repulse Bay, Stanley and the Aberdeen typhoon shelter, which get busy at weekends and on public holidays. Hong Kong has more than a dozen public holidays a year; around Lunar New Year, Easter, Mid-Autumn and Christmas many businesses change their hours, and some small shops close for three to seven days over Lunar New Year.
