Visited this restaurant for the first time. Food is so-so. Wagyu fried rice was so salty as if I was spooning into pile of salt. Portion vs price wasn’t great neither. If you are after a drink and some nibbles might be ok but not a place for proper dinner. The restaurant has an open kitchen, the smoke was trapped in the restaurant and irritated to cough.

This Japanese spot absolutely nailed my salmon donburi set meal! The sashimi-grade salmon slices are incredibly fresh, rich, and buttery with beautiful marbling, laid perfectly over fluffy vinegared sushi rice. The whole set is thoughtfully curated: warm umami miso soup, a crisp side salad, house soy sauce, creamy wasabi and pickled ginger to balance the fish’s richness. Best ever Salmon in Hong Kong! Beyond outstanding lunch rice bowls, they serve flavorful yakitori skewers for dinner alongside an extensive selection of sake. Every element feels refined and authentic, from the floral lacquer bento box to the delicate plating. Such a comforting, premium Japanese dining experience—will definitely return for evening yakitori and sake tastings!

Very good food at reasonable 居酒屋 pricing, their food quality is surprisingly gd. Yet, their service is not the type of 居酒屋 style. Should be much better if they have a great PR to interact with the customers. Think it’s gd if only 2 friends sitting at counter interacting with the chef. The big group table is not convenient if share food.

Yujo 酒肉朋友 has only been open for seven months. The floor staff are still quite inexperienced, but fortunately the chef at the counter is very experienced and extremely attentive. He helped smooth over any small issues and made the overall experience much better. There’s a good variety of dishes and the food tasted pretty good. For lunch, they offer two sake sets at $480 and $580, which I found quite reasonable. A nice Japanese spot in Wan Chai with friendly counter service.
