Wan Chai is part of the Wan Chai District on Hong Kong Island. The north shore of Hong Kong Island is one of the densest business areas in the city: the MTR Island Line runs from Kennedy Town to Chai Wan, the trams ("ding dings") between Kennedy Town and Shau Kei Wan, and many businesses trade from upper floors of office blocks and older tenement buildings. The south side is known for beaches, trails and fishing harbours such as Repulse Bay, Stanley and the Aberdeen typhoon shelter, which get busy at weekends and on public holidays. Wan Chai mixes the office towers around the Convention and Exhibition Centre with old markets and tenement buildings, and nearby restaurants get busy during big trade fairs.

Honestly, my first visit here wasn’t great. From the moment we walked in, the waitress seemed impatient while we were choosing a bottle. We only took about ten minutes, which isn’t excessive i guess, but the attitude already felt off. We finally ordered a Kabinett and even pointed it out on the menu several times, yet the waitress still brought the wrong bottle and questioned our order, even though she herself had said “Kabinett.” The whole interaction came across as unfriendly, and only after double-checking did she finally bring the wine we wanted. Another thing we feel bad is that during our three-hour stay, no water was served. As a wine bar, I think that’s a basic expectation, even if customers don’t specifically ask. Later, when we ordered a second bottle of wine, another waiter just brought it over without changing our glasses. At any proper wine bar, switching glasses for a different wine should be standard. We had to call him back to request new ones, which felt very unprofessional.

Best wine bar ever. Was in HK for 3 nights and came back every single night. Quintessentially HK, tucked away in a back alley of wan chai. Vibes - check. Music - check. Wines - super check - insane list of both BTG and bottle. Service - super check. Thank you Steven and Sabrina, looking forward to returning!

We ordered 2003 vintage Nvmanthia, and it was deliscious. The ambience was like a snap shot from an old Hong Kong movie. Just loved it!

Was curious about this bar for a while but sorry cant give this bar a high rating because if you drink in a bar it’s all about whole experience. Drinks, service, ambience. FYI this is not a bar for you if you dont know wine. They won’t even bother to asked you what kind of wine you prefer and gave a whole bunch of wine menu for you to read by yourself. Tried their pinot noir by the glass and it was good. Looking from the list, honestly I think their wines are good but really expensive for a small place that is located at the end of alley. Service were very cold. They just opened when we came, there was two customer at one table already and one waiter lady took order without any friendliness or smile at all. We accidentally spilled a glass of water and male waiter came and just cleaned it just like that without any interaction with the customer. But he at least quickly changed the water with the new ones. Their by the glass price ranged between $120-$280 and that’s definitely not the price I wanted to pay if I am getting that kind of not so welcoming service, not even a common smile. But I always wanted to try it so here we go. Try once and wont ever come back. Not complaining

A really relaxing and comfortable spot in the area with many solid by the glass options, notably the Italian selections. I like the helpful descriptions on the menu to help navigate the wide range of wines available; they offer the standard tasting notes but also write in a way that relates to or compares to other typical varieties and regions, which gives people a more solid idea of what will actually end up in the glass. The food menu leaves something to be desired and is primarily very simple snacks, but it works with the casual and playful approach of the bar.
