Central is part of the Central and Western District on Hong Kong Island. The north shore of Hong Kong Island is one of the densest business areas in the city: the MTR Island Line runs from Kennedy Town to Chai Wan, the trams ("ding dings") between Kennedy Town and Shau Kei Wan, and many businesses trade from upper floors of office blocks and older tenement buildings. The south side is known for beaches, trails and fishing harbours such as Repulse Bay, Stanley and the Aberdeen typhoon shelter, which get busy at weekends and on public holidays. Central is Hong Kong's financial and business heart; the Central–Mid-Levels escalator links the streets up the hill, Lan Kwai Fong and SoHo come alive at night, and the Central piers serve the Outlying Islands.

Best tourist value in HK. Only $4 to Tsim Sha Tsui and $5 to Central/Wan Chai. Can scan your Optimus card at the entrance no need to buy ticket. The seats are reversible too so you can face your friends if desired. The boat never turn and just goes back-n-forth like a train so you can plan where to sit to get the view you want.

From central to Tsim Tsa Tsui and back, easy access to bus lines in downtown, trams or taxis, you are directly in downtown. Possibility for refreshments, payments by card, octopus card more convenient. Ferry goes relatively often, no long waiting in good weather

Went on a Tuesday night, shortly after sunset, in February. Main hassle was getting on the boat. There were long queues. And it took at least 15-20 minutes of waiting. And then people rushed on to the boat to grab the best spots. Still got very good views from a not-so-great seat. Cost is 5 HKD, so very cheap.

Central Ferry Pier No.7 is the main Star Ferry terminal on Hong Kong Island, connecting to Tsim Sha Tsui across Victoria Harbour. Famous for its classic green‑and‑white ferries, it offers one of the city’s most scenic and affordable rides, popular with both commuters and tourists. Located on the Central waterfront near the IFC Mall and Hong Kong Observation Wheel, the pier blends heritage charm with convenience, making it a must‑visit spot for experiencing Hong Kong’s harbour views.

Top attraction in HK. Central to Tsim SHA shui. Must visit for only $5 HKD. Thankful it was saved during Covid. Sit at the top for best views on the boat. Thanks for the memories!
