Wan Chai is part of the Wan Chai District on Hong Kong Island. The north shore of Hong Kong Island is one of the densest business areas in the city: the MTR Island Line runs from Kennedy Town to Chai Wan, the trams ("ding dings") between Kennedy Town and Shau Kei Wan, and many businesses trade from upper floors of office blocks and older tenement buildings. The south side is known for beaches, trails and fishing harbours such as Repulse Bay, Stanley and the Aberdeen typhoon shelter, which get busy at weekends and on public holidays. Wan Chai mixes the office towers around the Convention and Exhibition Centre with old markets and tenement buildings, and nearby restaurants get busy during big trade fairs.

Good affordable Sichuan food in Wanchai. Not the easiest to find but a short 5-7mins walk from the MTR station. Dry pots have been getting more popular recently so we tried out the version here. You have to choose at least 4 dishes and there were quite a lot of variety of ingredients. My fave is the wide potato noodles and this was well cooked and soaked up all the sauce. It wasn’t too oily and just the right amount of spiciness. This wasn’t cheap (around $280-$320) but the portion turned out to be more substantial than we expected. The biggest surprise was the mapo tofu. As huge fans, this was good and cheap! It went so well with rice we had almost two bowls each. One of the better ones here in HK. Ended the meal with my fave brown sugar fried glutinous rice cake! It was freshly made after we finished our mains so pipping hot and yummy. This dish is hard to fail actually but still left us happy with the meal :) The service is prompt and the space a typical Chinese banquet restaurant vibe. It was quite busy when we were there and the place can get noisy. They also have a very good lunch deal so give it a try! We’ll be back!

I'm a fan of real spicy food and love to keep discovering genuine Sichuan restaurants. This time I got to try Fu Chuan Xiangge in Wan Chai. Cucumber was mixed with chopped garlic. Fresh, juicy and crunchy. Braised beef shank was thinly sliced and the chili sauce went well with beer. Saliva chicken was soft and tender. Topped with tingly chili oil and peanuts. Big portion. Sichuan boiled beef - giant bowl with lots of beef, indian lettuce, cucumber, potato noodles and bean sprouts. The beef was marinated just right, soft yet not overly tenderized. The thick, springy and slippery potato noodles had absorbed the numbing mala sauce. Simply delish! The dishes didn't contain too much MSG compared to most Sichuan restaurants. Fair prices, good quality of food. No wonder this restaurant was so packed during lunch hours.

100% authentic Sichuan cuisine, reputation of spicy paddlefish which advanced order is required. A variety of less spicy choices. Excellent service staff generally a price performaner outrates many competitors

Spotted this place from the street, slightly hidden but quite a gem indeed. We were promptly served as they weren't very crowded and the food was very delicious. There are non spicy dishes if you have anyone who can't take Sichuan. Highly recommend the steamed clams (original broth), sliced pork in Sichuan chilli appetiser, spicy pot (麻辣香锅), spicy shredded potato!

For those who love spicy hot food, this would be a heaven. The chef was kind enough to tune down the spice level for us. But the food was greasy. And you feel like you are really in China. The shop was clean overall, but had room to improve. The service was ok.
