About 公和荳品廠

公和荳品廠 is a butcher, fishmonger or deli in Sham Shui Po, at 九龍深水埗北河街118號號地下. Locals and visitors alike tend to check the same things before going, so this page brings together the practical details: where it is, how to get in touch, when it is open and how customers rate it.

At wet-market stalls meat, seafood and vegetables are often priced by the catty (斤) or tael (兩), and prices move with the season and the weather, while supermarkets mostly sell pre-packed, price-labelled goods. Alcohol may only be sold to people aged 18 or over, so you may be asked for ID. The days before Lunar New Year are the busiest of the year for markets and dried-seafood shops, and many stalls close for the first few days of the new year.

Google lists the opening hours as daily, 07:00–21:00. It is open seven days a week. Arrangements may differ on public holidays, over Lunar New Year and when a typhoon signal No. 8 or above or a black rainstorm warning is in force, so call before making a special trip. Phone: 2386 6871. Hong Kong numbers have eight digits; from abroad, dial +852 first. Its website is facebook.com, which may show prices, details of what it offers or online booking.

Sham Shui Po is part of the Sham Shui Po District in Kowloon. Around Kwun Tong and Kowloon Bay many industrial buildings now house offices, restaurants, gyms and studios, while Kai Tak is a newer district. Kowloon's streets are busiest in the evening and at weekends, shops keep long hours with many open until about 22:00, and the Kwun Tong, Tsuen Wan and Tuen Ma lines plus buses and minibuses reach almost everywhere. Sham Shui Po is known for the electronics and second-hand stalls of Apliu Street and the fabric and button shops around Ki Lung Street and Yu Chau Street, where many older shops still prefer cash.

The first thing I noticed was how strong the air conditioning was, which made it a very comfortable place to go in the summer. It was nice to sit down and eat without feeling too hot or stuffy, so that already added a lot to the experience. The tofu pudding was decent overall. The soybean flavor came through fairly well, and it had a solid tofu taste too, so it was pretty standard and reliable. What was a bit disappointing was that there wasn’t much curry sauce. As a result, the curry, radish, and pork skin didn’t get much sauce on them, so the flavor came out a little weak. If there had been more curry sauce, the whole combination would probably have tasted much better and felt more complete.

The tofu pudding is okay but the fried tofu is a pass (soggy pre-cooked and under-flavored). Nothing spectacular about this place and potentially some hygiene issues. Doesn’t seem very clean and had to wipe down wet spoons. Probably okay if you buy the tofu to cook at home, but eating here is less than ideal and not worth a special trip.

I love this shop even if I'm only here for one thing! The fried tofu is so delicious. They make the tofu in house and it is SO fresh. Also, always get some soy milk. It is so refreshing on a hot day! There are two stalls across the alley way from each other. Your can sit in either of them. This place is an institution in Sham Shui Po!

At Kung Wo Beancurd Factory (Sham Shui Po, Hong Kong), the tofu‑focused menu was outstanding. The Mix Deep Fried (HKD 18 for 6 pcs) offered tofu, tofu puff, and golden fish & soya cake — crisp outside, silky inside, with juice literally squeezing out of the tofu. Soy drizzle lifted the otherwise plain pieces, making it a fun, varied snack at great value. The Tofu Pudding (HKD 14), cold with sugar, was silky and delicate, melting in the mouth. A light syrup added sweetness, with optional brown sugar at the condiment station. Without sugar it would be too plain, but the sweetened version was comforting. The Soya Bean Milk (HKD 10), cold with sugar, was frothy, fresh, and cooling, with strong beany flavour rounded by sweetness — perfect alongside the fried items.
