Many Hong Kong restaurants add a 10% service charge to the bill, and tipping beyond that is optional. Popular places fill up at lunchtime and on weekend evenings, so book by phone, WhatsApp or a platform such as OpenRice; some set a time limit or a minimum spend. Most offer both dine-in and takeaway, and Octopus, credit cards, FPS and PayMe are widely accepted, though smaller places may take cash only. Dim sum restaurants usually charge a per-person tea fee, and dishes are priced by size; weekend mornings from about 10:00 to lunchtime are the busiest, and many places give out queue tickets. Book wedding and birthday banquets months ahead.
Opening hours: daily, 10:00–22:00. It is open seven days a week. Many small businesses close for a few days around Lunar New Year and may shut early or not open during typhoons and black rainstorms, so check the latest news before you set off. You can call 2851 8088; a phone call is the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or how to get there. Its website is dimsumsquare.shop, which may show prices, details of what it offers or online booking.
At 4.0 out of 5 on Google (3,054 reviews), it sits mid-table; the written reviews say more about service, prices and waiting times than the number does.
Sheung Wan is part of the Central and Western District on Hong Kong Island. The north shore of Hong Kong Island is one of the densest business areas in the city: the MTR Island Line runs from Kennedy Town to Chai Wan, the trams ("ding dings") between Kennedy Town and Shau Kei Wan, and many businesses trade from upper floors of office blocks and older tenement buildings. The south side is known for beaches, trails and fishing harbours such as Repulse Bay, Stanley and the Aberdeen typhoon shelter, which get busy at weekends and on public holidays.

Local Yum Cha place, good food, some new flavours for me but all good. The Tapioca & Lotus Paste Pudding (hot) is definitely worth a try.

Craving dim sum without breaking the bank? Dim Sum Square, just a 2‑minute walk from Sheung Wan MTR, is a cozy spot serving classic Chinese dim sum and dishes at very reasonable prices. The efficient and friendly staff keep things moving, with food arriving quickly and consistently at a solid standard. Best of all, there’s no extra 10% service charge — though a tip box is placed at the cashier if you’d like to show your appreciation.

What a busy place on a Saturday night yet we got seated right away. We choose the Spring Rolls, Crispy BBQ pork buns as well as Fried Noodles with soy sauce and Sweet and Sour Pork. All was good especially mixing the veggies with the sweet and sour sauce with the noodles. Lots of people enjoying the atmosphere and food.

This place used to be one of the best dim sum restaurants in HK. The food quality is now very poor, tasteless and small. Definitely not what it used to be like. Service has always been poor but you put up with it because the food was great. Now, bad food, 7 dollar charge per head, and 4 dollars extra if you want ice with your drink.

We were walking around trying lots of the Dimsum places and stumbled upon this one too. It was pretty good, with only 4-5 teams in front of us waiting. After about 10-20 mins we got seated and ordered their pork buns, shrimp Dimsum, and a noodle dish. Everything was really great and I’d come back again. It was very loud and crazy inside, but to me that’s part of the Hong Kong experience. P.S. 💰 only no 💳
