When choosing a restaurant, check whether the menu shows prices and the service charge, whether you need to book, and whether there are vegetarian or children's options. Restaurants must hold a licence from the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department, usually displayed inside. Lunar New Year, Mother's Day, Christmas and New Year's Eve are peak booking times, and some restaurants offer set menus or add a surcharge on festive days, so ask ahead. Dim sum restaurants usually charge a per-person tea fee, and dishes are priced by size; weekend mornings from about 10:00 to lunchtime are the busiest, and many places give out queue tickets. Book wedding and birthday banquets months ahead.
Google lists the opening hours as daily, 07:00–22:00. It is open seven days a week. Arrangements may differ on public holidays, over Lunar New Year and when a typhoon signal No. 8 or above or a black rainstorm warning is in force, so call before making a special trip. Phone: 2342 3189. Hong Kong numbers have eight digits; from abroad, dial +852 first.

Sheung Wan is part of the Central and Western District on Hong Kong Island. The north shore of Hong Kong Island is one of the densest business areas in the city: the MTR Island Line runs from Kennedy Town to Chai Wan, the trams ("ding dings") between Kennedy Town and Shau Kei Wan, and many businesses trade from upper floors of office blocks and older tenement buildings. The south side is known for beaches, trails and fishing harbours such as Repulse Bay, Stanley and the Aberdeen typhoon shelter, which get busy at weekends and on public holidays. Sheung Wan's Des Voeux Road West and Bonham Strand West are known for dried seafood, ginseng and herbal shops, which are busiest before Lunar New Year.

My best local roast experience. There is no need to go to the more established “Kees” or Yat Lok. This place is good. Service is good. It’s air-conditioned. The char siew is very good - goes well with the chilli on the table. Comes with soup.

We came here for lunch with a friend and wasn’t expecting to love this place to much. The meat is absolutely the best, so juicy and crispy at the same time! We had 4 different meats and loved them all. It was around lunch time so it was busy but we got a table in about 10 minutes. Cash only!

One of my favorite spots for BBQ pork (char siu) in Hong Kong 😋! You can actually see them refilling the char siu even around 8pm. I love the flavor, especially the caramelized, slightly “burnt” crispy edges (but it doesn’t taste bitter 🤩). That said, today I got a slightly fattier piece than usual since it was before the refill. Still, overall I think the BBQ pork is absolutely worth it 🙌. You can see both locals and tourists coming here.

ate here 3 times in the course of 2 weeks, it was just too good to resist. we tried plenty of other places in central, wanchai, tsim sha tsui and mong kok, but this took the #1 spot across the board. we tried a lot but the best were the cha sui, roast suckling pig, duck, and ginger scallion chicken. every time we went the food was flavorful, fresh, tender, and the suckling pig was always perfectly crispy. the cha sui was juicy, half fat/lean, and burnt on the edges in the best way. the service is what you expect in hong kong because they’re always busy, so expect to wait in line to be seated or for takeaway orders, order quickly, be served quickly, and pay at the counter. it’s cash only. takeaway orders are cheaper than sit down, but you still get a free soup or drink with your dish. if i could teleport here every week, i would.

Initially we thought there’s a line to get in. Turns out those are just people waiting for the takeout. To get seated you just walk straight in and the staff will find you a table. FYI you’ll be sitting with strangers if that’s the only opening. We ordered crispy suckling pork combo with char siu and roasted duck. Everything was legit delicious. The pork skin is so crispy and satisfying. I wish there’s more duck though. Both dipping sauces are fantastic. They’re sweet and tangy in different ways, which cuts through the richness of the meats. The meal also came with a drink. Iced lemon tea is an excellent choice. Overall dragon state is a great option if you’re looking for a quick stop for quality BBQ. No per person minimum and cash only.
