Sheung Wan is part of the Central and Western District on Hong Kong Island. The north shore of Hong Kong Island is one of the densest business areas in the city: the MTR Island Line runs from Kennedy Town to Chai Wan, the trams ("ding dings") between Kennedy Town and Shau Kei Wan, and many businesses trade from upper floors of office blocks and older tenement buildings. The south side is known for beaches, trails and fishing harbours such as Repulse Bay, Stanley and the Aberdeen typhoon shelter, which get busy at weekends and on public holidays.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Lin Heung Tea House 🥢 This is old-school Hong Kong dim sum done the way it's supposed to be — carts rolling through a room full of clatter and steam, no menu ordering, just point and eat. It's chaotic in the best possible way. 🦐 The har gow was solid — thin skin, snappy prawn filling, exactly what you want from a classic. The siu mai held its own too, well-packed and properly seasoned. 🍚 The lo mai gai (glutinous rice with chicken wrapped in lotus leaf) was a highlight — fragrant, sticky, savory in all the right places. Simple food, but the kind that's hard to get truly right. 🌙 Went for the after-9pm special and the value was excellent — same quality, friendlier price. If you're around late, this is the move. ✨ Not polished, not Instagram-perfect, and that's exactly the point. This is what dim sum tasted like before it got trendy — heritage in a bowl, and it's still legendary for a reason. 📍 A must for anyone who wants the real, unfiltered Hong Kong experience.

Lin Heung Lau is located in Tung Ning Building on Des Voeux Road, Central, Sheung Wan, Hong Kong Island. It's also known as Lin Heung Tea House. It's one of the oldest traditional Cantonese tea houses. It's serving the nostalgic manual pushcart dim sum service. We ordered: BBQ pork Roast duck Eggplant claypot Dim Sum: Chicken feet Pork ribs Shew Mai The food was delicious. The portion was rather big, so beware when ordering. Make sure all the dishes you order come out first and then proceed to picking up the dimsum dishes after. We did the other way around and ended up with too many food on our table.

Lin Heung Lau is more than just a dim sum restaurant: it’s a living piece of Hong Kong’s heritage. the authentic atmosphere, traditional tea culture, and classic pushcart dim sum preserve the charm of old Hong Kong that is becoming increasingly rare. Cantonese recipes every detail reflects a commitment to preserving its legacy. Rather than modernising for trends, Lin Heung Lau stays true to its roots, offering an experience that is as nostalgic as it is delicious. My non exhausted list of dim sum includes beef balls, huge soup dumplings, shrimp toasts, coconut steam egg and many more

Famous dim sum restaurant, established in 1927. Nicely decorated and one can feel the vintage vibes. We ordered several kind of dimsum, siu mai, har gow, charsiu bao, xiao lung bao, and 1 more kind which I forget the name (but don’t bother as it taste average). The siu mai tasted Ok, charsiu bao and har gow tasted good, but overall not that special. The Xiao lung bao taste below average, the skin too thick. We might be just wrong in picking the kind of dimsum, as it’s our first time here. Visit here just to experience the vintage vibes as the restaurant is one of the oldest dim sum restaurants in Hong Kong.

I always take the first breakfast of the trip here. In morning time, almost all customers are local neighbours. Some are by themselves, quietly reading Cantonese newspapers, some are old couple, or families, they are making vibrant vibe. Foods are always fresh, hot, and tasty. Dim sums are continually added from the kitchen, from Chaozhou style steamed dumpling to luxurious coconuts pudding. If you are lucky, you can get cute set of 3 egg tarts just out of oven. Just delight. I always regret I had just one stomach. Moreover always the same members working at the hall are also part of the vibe here: lively, helpful. Always quickly find empty tea pot, and pour boiling water. This restaurant is like a pumping heart of the city. People get energy then start their days.
