Central is part of the Central and Western District on Hong Kong Island. The north shore of Hong Kong Island is one of the densest business areas in the city: the MTR Island Line runs from Kennedy Town to Chai Wan, the trams ("ding dings") between Kennedy Town and Shau Kei Wan, and many businesses trade from upper floors of office blocks and older tenement buildings. The south side is known for beaches, trails and fishing harbours such as Repulse Bay, Stanley and the Aberdeen typhoon shelter, which get busy at weekends and on public holidays. Central is Hong Kong's financial and business heart; the Central–Mid-Levels escalator links the streets up the hill, Lan Kwai Fong and SoHo come alive at night, and the Central piers serve the Outlying Islands.

Wanted to try a local favourite. We tried the hot and cold milk tea, Pineapple bun, French toast. The tea was mildly sweet and smooth. The pineapple bun was good. The French toast was alright. Overall, the food was alright. There are a lot of tourists that come but you can see locals also eating here. The restaurant is very small hence you have to quickly order, eat and leave. They take cash or octopus card only. No credit cards. Nothing great. I would not go again.

Tea time means dropping by for some true Hong Kong classics. Really quite like the old-school atmosphere here - nothing fancy, a little nostalgic, and somehow that’s exactly the charm. It gives you that proper old Hong Kong feeling that I’m always looking for. Food was decent too. Not necessarily something that will blow your mind, but sometimes you don’t need fancy but just some familiar HK flavours, an old-school setting, and a relaxing tea break after all that walking.

Brought here by a native Hong Kong friend, which already felt like a great sign—and it definitely lived up to the recommendation. The place was absolutely bustling with locals, giving it that authentic cha chaan teng atmosphere. We ended up sharing a table with other diners, which only added to the experience. We ordered the scallion chicken noodles, and they were the bomb. The chicken was tender, the scallion sauce was fragrant and packed with flavor, and every bite was incredibly satisfying. We also had the polo bun, which was perfectly crisp on top with a soft, fluffy interior. Paired with a cold Hong Kong-style milk tea that was smooth, rich, and wonderfully balanced, it made for a fantastic meal. Service was efficient despite the constant crowd, and the food arrived surprisingly quickly. If you’re looking for a classic Hong Kong cha chaan teng experience with delicious comfort food and a lively local vibe, this place is well worth a visit.

Good for breakfast. We ordered several breakfast packages. I like buttered pineapple bun the best. Although the name is pineapple bun, it doesn’t contain any pineapple, just delicious bun with butter filling. I would also recommend order their ice milk tea.

If you know, you know — this place is a true Hong Kong classic. Came by Lan Fong Yuen and honestly, it completely lived up to the hype. There’s something about these old-school cha chaan tengs that just hit different — no frills, a bit cramped, slightly chaotic, but full of character and soul. We ordered a mix of their signatures and everything delivered. The instant noodles with fried egg and pork chop/chicken chop were simple but insanely satisfying — that rich, slightly sweet soy-based sauce coating the noodles, paired with a perfectly runny egg, is comfort food at its best. The chicken wings were juicy with that classic HK-style glaze, and even the cabbage on the side somehow tasted better than it should. Of course, the star is the milk tea. Smooth, strong, and silky — you can tell why they’re famous for it. The iced version was refreshing and not overly sweet, while the hot one had that deep tea fragrance that lingers. Paired it with a crispy bun with butter, and that combination alone is worth the visit. Service is fast and efficient (don’t expect hand-holding), but that’s part of the authentic experience. Tables turn quickly, people come and go, and you just soak it all in.
