Central is part of the Central and Western District on Hong Kong Island. The north shore of Hong Kong Island is one of the densest business areas in the city: the MTR Island Line runs from Kennedy Town to Chai Wan, the trams ("ding dings") between Kennedy Town and Shau Kei Wan, and many businesses trade from upper floors of office blocks and older tenement buildings. The south side is known for beaches, trails and fishing harbours such as Repulse Bay, Stanley and the Aberdeen typhoon shelter, which get busy at weekends and on public holidays. Central is Hong Kong's financial and business heart; the Central–Mid-Levels escalator links the streets up the hill, Lan Kwai Fong and SoHo come alive at night, and the Central piers serve the Outlying Islands.

Make a stop here if you’re after an authentic inexpensive cha chaang teng experience! A broad range of meals available - set lunch comes with a side of toast and a drink. The seating area is quite tight, which is typical for these small local cafe diners - adds to the authenticity! We came around 1-2PM on a Monday and they had a few customers but it was relatively calm.

A neighborhood Hong Kong-style café, a proper cha chaan teng. It’s a total mom-and-pop establishment that’s been around for more than 50 years. Space isn’t its forte, but what you get is incredible value on the menu, and you won’t walk away hungry. It’s a little tricky to find, but once you do, you’ll marvel at the service and the speed of the kitchen — it took less than five minutes for my food to arrive. Since I was eating alone, I was asked to share my table with another young customer, which is common practice in Hong Kong. I loved it. I’ll definitely be back to try the other wonderful items on the menu.

The Best in HK! 🍜✨ This was my first time visiting Wah Lok cafe with a friend and it definitely won’t be my last🥰In fact, after just one visit, I’m convinced this is the best 冰室 in all of Hong Kong. We ordered two sets which are the Corn Soup Udon and the Tomato Soup Udon and both were absolutely phenomenal. The broth was so rich and flavorful that we ended up finishing every last drop ✨personally the corn soup🌽it was incredibly creamy and delicious💛 Pro tip from the boss suggested we add their house-made chili oil to the tomato soup🍅 and it was a total game changer❤️The spicy kick perfectly complements the tanginess of the tomatoes. Beyond the food, the vibe is great. The boss and all the staff are exceptionally friendly and welcoming which makes the meal even more enjoyable. Verdict: 10/10🥰 Highly recommended!

Chanced upon this place while walking around the area. It is one of those old school cha chan tengs which pretty much kept its original look. The space is small so during prime breakfast and lunch hours, you might have to wait for a table. It's been around since the mid 1940s. You may have to share a table with strangers. This act is called "daap toi" which kinda means table tagging. It's a very HK thing to do and I say, just embrace it. It's the entire charm off what HK is all about. I love the Hong Kong style drinks such as milk tea, but especially yuen yong which is a mix of tea and coffee. This place does them very well. The scrambled eggs were decent, as was the butter roll. Only wish the roll was hot, or even warm, so that the slab of butter they throw inside would melt some. I don't like chomping on a piece of hard butter, but that's just how it goes in HK.

Popular breakfast cafe as it’s near a touristy area. There seems to always be a line outside. Luckily it moves pretty fast given HK efficiency haha Expect to share table with strangers. We sit across from a young Korean couple. I find the experience rather charming. You can’t go wrong with their hot milk tea which tastes just right. Their signature toast has a peanut butter filling. If you’re not a fan just be aware. I also enjoy their tomato instant noodle soup. It’s such humble comfort food. Sometimes simple food is all you need. Service is fast and friendly. All staff speaks good English, so communication is not a problem.
